关于我们
COOKFOX Architects is a studio dedicated to a vision of integrated, environmentally responsive design. Guided by a passion for design excellence and a belief in the collaborative process, COOKFOX seeks select projects that fundamentally re-think how buildings interact with people and the natural environment. Starting with intensive research, we seek to understand each project in its environmental, cultural, and contemporary context, so that our work may engage with layers of time and a strong sense of place. Inspired by concepts such as biophilia, we are pursuing architecture that goes beyond LEED to restore, regenerate, and contribute to the urban environment.

Last week, COOKFOX Associate Gaurav Sardana participated in the New York Builds panel "Cultivating Healthy Spaces Through Biophilic Design." He spoke about his belief in architecture's responsibility to be authentic and to nurture a love of place, and he approached biophilic design not just as a series of strategies and patterns but as components of a cohesive whole. These are principles that guide Gaurav's work on Terminal Warehouse, COOKFOX's under-construction project in the West Chelsea neighborhood.

Construction continues apace at the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music, located at Monmouth University. Featuring a mass timber structure, the project’s materiality reinforces the warm familiarity of Springsteen’s music and reflects the regionality of West Long Branch, NJ. The building’s mass timber reduces embodied carbon and pairs perfectly with design touches that will be realized on-site in the coming weeks: weathered steel rain screen panels, a boardwalk-style entrance, and native plantings that act as a bioswale for managing stormwater. At St. John's Terminal, the building's "new and historic portions work together to create an energized workplace for 3,000 employees and their visitors, featuring flexible work areas, biophilia, and hospitality-infused common spaces," writes Peter Webster in Interior Design Magazine. A milestone worth singing about: Last Thursday, we celebrated the topping out of the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music. Congratulations to the entire team! Learn more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/e7sxCjJY
March 6, 2025 marked another milestone moment for Monmouth as we celebrated the final beam placement for the future home of the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music. Scheduled to open in 2026, this donor-funded $48 million, 30,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly building will ensure the rich history of American music is accessible to students, fans, and researchers worldwide. University and the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music leadership joined partners from Torcon, and COOKFOX Architects, to mark the occasion, with a small group of attendees signing the beam before it was put in place. This moment brings us one step closer to the project’s completion. Learn more about our exciting campus growth at: https://ow.ly/i9Vv50VeIxR

Happy International Women's Day! Today and every day, COOKFOX celebrates all the women and femme-identifying people who keep our studio running. The AEC industry is not a gender-balanced one: Women accounted for only 11.2% of the U.S. construction industry, according to 2024 Department of Commerce statistics. Still, there's good news on the horizon, especially in the field of architecture proper. In the last year, women made up 48% of the NCARB testing population, and they typically earn their licenses faster than men, completing requirements a year sooner on average. Our studio regularly hosts events and field trips related to gender parity, and we aim not only to inspire our staff but also to uplift and empower them. During this year's Women’s History Month, we are organizing a screening of the documentary "Women in Architecture," directed by Boris Noir. Women lift up half the sky, and this is certainly true at COOKFOX.

New York's Garment District is a formerly industrial area, but now, nature is taking over at the Ruby, our project at 243 W 28th Street. "We really wanted to make sure that the minute you walk into your home, you're being pulled off of the sidewalks of the Garment District and you're seeing nature," says COOKFOX Partner Brandon Specketer.
