The Conway Area Leadership Institute spent the day getting an up-close and personal look behind the scenes at military operations in central Arkansas with the 189th Airlift Wing Arkansas Air National Guard and the Arkansas National Guard. From debriefs to equipment and tech overviews, a C-130 tour, a trip on a Black Hawk, and weapons simulation training, the class got a taste of it all. Today's session marked the end of the road for the 2024 class! It's been an incredible year learning about Conway and central Arkansas, and how everything comes together to form the community and growing city we love. Next stop, graduation! Clayton, a national single-family home builder of site-built, modern manufactured, tiny, CrossMod? and modular housing, has announced the expansion of its home construction operations into Conway. The company will invest $42 million in a modern manufactured home building facility, estimated to create more than 250 new jobs over three years. Clayton will modernize an existing 220,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, the former Spirit Homes facility on Dave Ward Drive, that is estimated to build 3,000 homes annually. Renovation and equipment installation will begin in December, with home production projected to start in the summer of 2025. The company will begin hiring while the facility is being renovated, with plans to recruit nearly 200 team members in its first year of operation.
