Storm response update ???? The National Weather Service has confirmed that 110 tornadoes touched down in the United States last weekend. Less than one week after the storms, Convoy has distributed over 535,000 pounds of relief supplies and served more than 28,000 people in 30 communities — and the work continues. In Rolla, Missouri, an EF-2 tornado carved a path directly through the town proper Friday night, ripping roofs off of houses and felling trees from the root. Beverly, a lifelong resident of Rolla, has supported Convoy of Hope for years. The afternoon before the storm, she’d been reading Convoy’s latest Hope Quarterly issue. “It was difficult to stay motivated when I felt so weak.” Stephanie, a young girl living in Haiti, often went through the day hungry. Tornado response update ?? Convoy of Hope’s response to the devastating severe weather outbreak continues as families in Missouri and Arkansas face the aftermath of multiple strong tornadoes. Homes are unrecognizable. People's lives were upended overnight. A load of relief supplies is en route to Poplar Bluff, Missouri, where an EF-3 tornado tore a path of destruction through hundreds of homes and businesses. Vulnerable women in Athens, Greece, are finding help and community thanks to Convoy's partners who are dedicated to meeting their needs. ?? Humanitarian Initiative Bridges, a Convoy of Hope partner program, exists to meet the needs of those who fled their home countries due to unrest, war, and persecution. Bridges not only helps with language learning, important documents, and health education, but also provides?one-on-one empowerment sessions and access to?social workers to help for the long haul.
