Thank you Solar Energy Industries Association, Smart Electric Power Alliance, EMerge Alliance, Microgrid Resources Coalition, and RE+ Events for the chance to speak about DoD #microgrids at the inaugural RE+ Microgrids conference.?And it was wonderful to share the stage with Tommy Waller, Lauren Khair, and Austin Feldbaum! Technology innovation remains critical to DoD’s #energyresilience, and microgrids have been a fascinating part of that journey.? It has been terrific to watch these efforts mature as the defense energy workforce gets more experience designing and deploying microgrids. What started as pilot projects with the help of DOE and its national labs over a decade ago is now a full-fledged defense-wide program driving toward the ambitious goal of providing on-base self-generation and storage to deliver energy resilience to all critical missions by the middle of the next decade.? It reinforces to me the importance of setting ambitious but achievable policy goals and giving your team the space and resources they need to achieve them. That is a winning combination that promises to unlock game-changing technology that will help DoD become the ready and #resilient force we need it to be for the future.
