Please be cautious if you are due to renew your energy contracts. We have some great solutions to help.
With gas and power prices at a 15-month high and rising, businesses could be forgiven for thinking about ‘biting the bullet,’ i.e. signing a fixed contract to mitigate any further upside risk. The logic is seductive, but flex contracts present a much better solution. Energy & Sustainability Consultant. Helping clients to identify Net Zero energy strategies and reduce their carbon footprint across their estate
What a great couple of weeks I’ve had so far in February, involving planes, trains and automobiles, and a whole host of events… The first week, I was speaking at the Southern Manufacturing & Electronics event at Farnborough International exhibition centre, lots of private jets, sadly not on one, thinking about my carbon footprint! I walked over to watch Luke A. speak for the his very first time, he cracked it. It was great to see David Chappell, Neil Williams and Sam Sleight there too to support him. I had a look around the exhibition for a while before it was my turn to present on what impacts UK energy prices and how businesses can reduce their carbon footprint and associated costs! It was great to see Luke, Dave and Sam in the audience supporting me too! I had a walk around afterwards and spoke to some members of the Made in the Midlands and Made in Yorkshire and chatted with other exhibitors. It was a busy show, learnt a lot and met some great people! Then it was back home, to catch a train to Leeds, for the first Made in Yorkshire factory tour courtesy of AW Hainsworth and Sons Ltd on the Thursday, thanks to Sam Sleight and Amanda McLaren for arranging such a great tour. My week finished off on Friday with the Sterling Gloucester group’s breakfast meeting, a great presentation from Liam Maskell on Google searches, AI and how to go about taking advantage of search engine optimisation. What has become apparent to me is how supportive associations and their members are, it’s all about collaboration, working together and supporting each other! I’m proud of the associations I have! I also realised that really enjoyed talking about a topic I’m passionate about. If you’re an association or a group and would like a presentation I’d be happy to do so. If you’d like to know more about how we support associations and businesses with reducing their carbon footprint and costs get in touch with me or Control Energy Costs

It’s not often that you get the chance to meet the manufacturers of the material’s that are used in the making of your Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), but I did…Thanks to Made in Yorkshire’s factory tour, organised by Sam Sleight, and Amanda McLaren and the team from A.W. HAINSWORTH HOLDINGS LIMITED . What a great insight into how they go about manufacturing their products from parade uniform for The Guards Division, materials for PPE, to blankets, felt used in piano mechanisms and cloth for snooker and pool tables, to name but a few! The tour took us through the processes that the wool goes through, as well as the testing and quality control before it becomes either the end product or material for another provider’s product. As an on-call firefighter my PPE has provided protection from the various situations that I’ve found myself in! They provide the material to MSA - The Safety Company Bristol Uniforms for my tunic and leggings, so it was great to see how they test it, from fire testing to the strength/rip testing it goes through, a thorough and rigorous process, as can be seen in some of the photos. They have just had their Royal Warrant renewed as a provider of goods and services to the Royal Household, which goes to demonstrate the quality of their products and services! The renewal process was heavily based around their sustainability, so it was good to hear from the team during the panel discussion at the end of the tour, how they approached this. More and more businesses are becoming more focussed on sustainability, especially if clients are beginning to focus on their supply chains. We at Control Energy Costs can help businesses understand how they can become more sustainable, and help to reduce their carbon footprint and costs, get in touch for a chat about our services and how we can help you. Thanks again to Amanda McLaren and everyone at AW Hainsworth and Sons Ltd for being such great hosts, and Sam Sleight for arranging it. Looking forward to the next one, and the opportunity to meet up.
