As a board member of the Arizona Burn Foundation, I know that Camp Courage is a life-changing experience for burn survivors ages 6-19 years old. Through outdoor activities that challenge and engage them, and countless opportunities to make lifelong friendships, Camp transforms their lives and empowers them to move beyond recovery and ready to thrive.?Please take the time to read Mariah Cruz' story below. ? Mariah was burned when she was just 13 months old, and underwent multiple surgeries that made it difficult to even step outside. While that set her back as a young child, she built strength and found her passion and skill for distance running and used it as a way to escape and grow. She received a full scholarship and now competes for Pima College. Her aspiration now is to give back to other young burn survivors and provide guidance as they navigate their own burn journeys. ? While camp is a much-needed experience for young burn survivors like Mariah, it costs $1,500 to send her to camp, so I’m asking for your help to ensure that children like her can continue to attend and carry themselves with a new level of confidence and understanding.
