Contracting Specialists South East, LLC (CS-SE) is currently on site at the Grovernor House property in Miami, Florida. The project – encompassing demolition and restoration of various features of the structure, plaza deck, fa?ade, and three-level parking garage for the impressive 32-story waterfront luxury condominium tower – has encountered challenges related to permitting, structural unforeseens, and adverse weather events. Despite these obstacles, the project team has maintained the schedule and quality to meet the high-end requirements of the owners. In fact, they even implemented waterproofing approaches unique to each feature (plaza deck, pool, planters, and fountains) to ensure the integrity of the property in consideration of the unpredictable climate. We may not know what the weather will bring, but we can always rely on the CS-SE team!

To combat wear and tear, our Contracting Specialists DC, LLC team recently completed complex repairs at a four-story, 58,000-SF parking garage in the city of Salisbury, Maryland. Project requirements included bearing pad replacement after jacking and shoring up each level, concrete repairs, and coating of the top level with a vehicular coating. The vital garage serves a rehabilitation center, apartment building, and local businesses, so our team strategically rotated night shifts to keep the garage open during the day. In the end, we were proud to turn the rehabilitated, safe garage over to the public for their daily comings and goings.

February is American Heart Month, raising awareness about the importance of heart health. Whether working in an office or in the field, we should always be focused on doing our best to make healthy lifestyle choices, identify and employ methods to reduce stress, be on the lookout for any warning signs of cardiac distress in ourselves and others, and be well-versed in the skills that may help you respond appropriately during a medical emergency.

February 11th marked the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. From engineers to environmental scientists, we would like to acknowledge the many women within our own BBCH family who contribute so much to the STEM community. Their achievements in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics stand as an inspiration, demonstrating the benefits of equal opportunity in these disciplines and leading the way for the female scientists of tomorrow!

They say all good things must come to an end and so has Contracting Specialists South East, LLC’s restoration project at the Sandy Lane Master Association (SLMA) south plaza deck in Miami Beach, Florida. Thanks to the skill and commitment of our dedicated team, this concrete restoration, stucco installation, waterproofing, and topping slab project has come to a close despite an addition of scope and local permitting and weather delays. It was vital to get the affected 30,000 square feet of recreational space – typically used for hosting events, exercising, and relaxing by the pool – renovated and back into the hands of the property management team before the busy spring season brings visitors from all over the world to Miami Beach. This project serves as a benchmark for what all stakeholders can achieve if they share the same goals of maximizing safety and adding value to the property and its users.
