We recently had the pleasure of hosting an externship program in partnership with Central Contra Costa Sanitary District, providing the next generation of water industry professionals a unique opportunity to explore potential career pathways. During the event, participants were given a comprehensive tour of our water treatment plant in Concord, engaging with key staff to learn more about the diverse roles and opportunities available in the water sector. It’s always rewarding to connect with passionate individuals eager to make a difference in our industry, and we’re grateful to our partners for making this program a success. It was very insightful to hear from Mayor Sue Noack about the vision and direction for Pleasant Hill and from Chair Quy Tran about exciting projects for Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District. It was great to connect with the community and hear what’s ahead for Walnut Creek from Mayor Cindy Darling and other Walnut Creek leaders. At Contra Costa Water District, we are dedicated to fostering the next generation of wise water users and water industry professionals. Through a combination of youth water education programs and internship opportunities for high school and college students, we are nurturing future water leaders preparing to meet our community’s evolving water needs. Our partnership with the Marine Science Institute is an important component of connecting students to the source of their water. Thank you, Marine Science Institute!

Several CCWD Board Members attended Concord’s State of the City event on February 6, gaining valuable insights into upcoming priorities for the City of Concord. Great to hear about exciting things on the horizon from Mayor Obringer!

At CCWD, we believe in making a difference—not just in our work, but in the communities we call home. Recently, several employees volunteered their time at the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, helping to sort and package various fruits and vegetables in preparation for distribution to families in need.
