Continue has raised $3M in new seed funding to help developers create and share custom AI coding assistants. Founded in June 2023 by Ty Dunn and Nate Sesti, Continue is a flexible, open-source assistant that works with any AI model. It allows developers to add context from external tools like Jira and Confluence, enabling custom coding experiences directly within IDEs like VS Code and JetBrains. Features include autocomplete suggestions, a chat interface for asking questions about code, and an editing tool that lets users modify code by simply describing the changes. Alongside this release, Continue has introduced a central hub similar to Docker Hub or GitHub, where developers can build, share, and manage their own AI assistants using modular "blocks." These blocks can include AI models from partners like Mistral, Anthropic's Claude 3.5 Sonnet, and DeepSeek-R1 from Ollama, as well as customizable rules, prompts, data sources, documentation, and tools for integrating external services.
