Dr. KaSheta J. Jackson is the newest member of Contentnea Health's Board of Directors. ? Board Chair Sandra Camacho-Bond administered the oath of office during the Board's regular monthly meeting Tuesday afternoon. ? Dr. Jackson is the VP of Community Health at ECU Health. In her role, she uses data to drive transformation, elevate standards, and promote community involvement across ECU Health.? ? She is actively engaged?in diverse projects aimed at lessening health disparities and attracting and retaining healthcare professionals. Since 2004, she has held various leadership positions spanning Patient Care Services, Quality Analytics, and Health Equity.? ? Dr. Jackson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Barton College, a Master’s in Nursing from Walden University, and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Grand Canyon University.? ? Her research scope encompasses the nursing profession's role in addressing health inequalities, ensuring parity in healthcare, formulating strategies for nurse recruitment, understanding Social Drivers of Health, and studying healthcare in rural settings. Notably, in 2022, Dr. Jackson was honored with the ANA award for pioneering community initiatives that tackle social determinants of health, such as food insecurity, housing, and employment.? ? Her guiding principle centers on the Golden Rule, firmly believing that “to whom much is given, much is required.”? ?

WellCare of NC recognized Contentnea Health of Snow Hill, NC, as the 2024 Community Hero for their commitment to improving community health in Eastern NC. WellCare of NC noted that over the last three years, Contentnea Health has been an invaluable partner, collaborating with the organization to provide crucial health screenings at local events. WellCare leaders noted that Contentnea Health Neighborhood Health Services staff members are enthusiastic and dedicated to creating healthy people, healthy families and healthy communities, making Contentnea a vital asset to both WellCare and its community partners.

Rose Student Health Services during a ribbon cutting this morning. In her remarks, Mrs. Torres noted that the health center represents more than a new facility. "This health center is a testament to what is possible when a community comes together to support the physical and mental health of its young people," she said. "By providing accessible, high-quality healthcare services on school grounds, we are helping to ensure our students have the resources they need to stay healthy, focused, and ready to learn."

J.H. Rose High School parents learned more about the Student Health Services clinic Contentnea Health is opening in the school. This partnership between the Pitt County School System and Contentnea Health is a great example of how our community works together to serve the needs of our family, friends and neighbors. The clinic increases access to affordable, compassionate and quality primary and mental health care for students.

Contentnea Health CEO Melissa Torres cut the ribbon on our new on-site pharmacy in Snow Hill today. The pharmacy serves Contentnea Health patients, increasing access to lower-priced medications.
