This experience not only broadened my horizons but also equipped me with invaluable skills and insights. Here are some of my highlights: ???? The range of tasks I handled was vast and varied. From creating presentations and managing social media to logistics, every day brought a new challenge. I honed my skills in networking and creativity. These diverse responsibilities ensured that I was constantly learning and growing. ? ?? I helped organize events for various target audiences and met a plethora of fascinating individuals. From students to diplomats, and CEOs to human rights advocates, I encountered people from all walks of life. ? ??? Working in a multilingual environment was a daily adventure. In the everyday life, I primarily communicated in English, but at work, I often switched between German, Swiss-German, and French. This constant language switch sharpened my communication skills and deepened my appreciation for Switzerland’s linguistic diversity. ? ?? Collaborating with local diplomats provided a broader perspective on different countries’ diplomatic efforts and fostered my fascination with diplomacy and international relations. ? ?? I love traveling and covering 11 states and the Cayman Islands within our jurisdiction, I visited cities like New Orleans, Birmingham and Raleigh for work. Each trip was a unique experience, contributing to my personal and professional development. ? In conclusion, my internship at the Swiss Consulate General in Atlanta was an incredible journey. Strengthening Swiss-US Educational Partnerships: A Journey of Innovation and Collaboration ? In October 2024, a delegation of Swiss higher education leaders embarked on a comprehensive study tour across the U.S. to explore innovative practices in education, foster Swiss-American partnerships, and understand the evolving relationship between academia and industry. Organized by Catherine Sokoloff and Hartmut Wickert Wickert, the delegation engaged with top U.S. universities, community colleges, and innovation hubs to exchange ideas on the future of education ????. ? At Georgetown University, they discussed how U.S. institutions are rethinking education in response to workforce demands and technological advancements, exchanging ideas on how universities must adapt to challenges like AI, migration, and social engineering ????. ? At Virginia Tech's Innovation Campus, the delegation witnessed the collaboration between universities and businesses, and in North Carolina, they explored the strong link between community colleges and industry, learning about initiatives like ApprenticeshipNC (part of the NC Community College System) ??. ? Dr. Peter Youngs, Professor and chair of the Departement CISE at University of Virginia in Charlottesville invited the group for a fabulous tour across the fields of teacher`s education with elaborated talks about classroom simulation, about coaching and training tools for students who are preparing for classrooms practices as well as a lecture about Race, Language and Teacher Education. ? Hosted by Swiss professor Flavio Frohlich Fr?hlich at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the delegation learned about neurostimulation research and discussed mental health education. Fr?hlich reflected on how these exchanges deepened cross-continental collaboration, opening doors for future partnerships ????. ? Dr. Brian S. Merritt invited the group to a meeting with a team from North Carolina Community College System Office in Raleigh, introducing the enormous work to empower Community Colleges in NC, gave a tour to Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh as well as to industry partner MOEN and the Central Carolina Community College in Sanford. ? In Savannah, the delegation visited Savannah College of Art and Design, gaining insights into how creative education can prepare students for the future economy ????. ? We extend a huge thank you to all the universities, institutions, professors, and industry leaders who generously hosted the Swiss delegation! Your support has strengthened educational partnerships and laid the foundation for future collaborations.

The Swiss Ambassador to the United States, together with the Consul General of Switzerland in Atlanta, the Honorary Consul of Switzerland in South Carolina, the Swiss Business Hub USA, and the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce celebrated this week the opening of Matica Group's first manufacturing plant in South Carolina. Swiss companies, including Matica, have been integral to South Carolina’s economic landscape. Ambassador Heckner emphasized “In South Carolina, Swiss affiliates account for 3% of the jobs created by all foreign affiliates in this state. Reto Corbetti and visiting the new Simatec Inc. site in Charlotte, a pioneer in the world of high-tech maintenance solutions. For over 40 years, the Swiss company has been a leading family-owned business, specializing in automatic lubricator and innovative products. ? As a global player, simatec has made its mark on industries worldwide, and now they are embarking on a new chapter with the exciting opening of their first purpose-built factory and office premises in the USA, opened in June 2024. ?
