With our friends at the Consulate General of Ireland, Atlanta, we welcomed Minister Dara Calleary back to Atlanta and the Metro Atlanta Chamber to host a business roundtable of Irish companies in Atlanta. Convening these candid meetings helps visiting leaders from the mother country (in this case, Ireland) learn of their companies' progress with their presence in metro Atlanta and discuss opportunities to grow. And it gives us intelligence to fortify our already-strong foundation to support Irish companies in Atlanta and to welcome new ones ... Which leads to a principal reason for Minister Calleary's visit: to cut the ribbon and officially open the new office of Enterprise Ireland USA in Atlanta. We were pleased to be part of the celebration of this tangible indication of the significance of Atlanta - and the US Southeast in general - as a fruitful location for Irish investment. Minister Dara Calleary’s final day in Savannah was a true celebration of Irish heritage! The day began with St. Patrick’s Day Mass, followed by a TV interview with WTOC-TV, highlighting the deep-rooted Irish connections in the city. Thrilled to take part in the iconic Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade, now in its 201st year, one of the largest and most vibrant in the U.S.

Deputy Ambassador Fionnuala Quinlan and Head of Economic & Trade Affairs Brian Dalton met Secretary of Commerce Harry Lightsey, Chief Protocol Officer Clarke Thompson, and Deuty Director of Glibal Business Development Jon Baggett, CEcD. of South Carolina Department of Commerce to discuss the productive two-way economic relationship between Ireland and South Carolina. South Carolina is home to operations of 47 Irish companies employing thousands. Great discussions on opportunities to collaborate in #lifesciences #biotech and #energy.

Ireland continues to expand in Atlanta! ???? ???? MOIIA joined our partners at the Consulate General of Ireland, Atlanta, Invest Atlanta, and IDA Ireland for the grand opening of the Enterprise Ireland offices in Atlanta as Ireland continues to expand its economic relationship with the southeast United States. Enterprise Ireland is the Irish government’s enterprise development agency, which helps Irish firms expand globally. Atlanta is the latest market for Enterprise Ireland, who currently boasts a network 11 offices in the America's. Minister Dara Calleary’s St. Patrick’s Day programme continued in Savannah, a city with rich Irish heritage. The day began with a podcast interview for The Savannah Irish Festival with Tara Reese, discussing Savannah’s deep-rooted Irish connections, the iconic parade, and how Ireland can continue to strengthen these bonds. Minister Calleary then met with Dr. Howard Keeley for a demonstration of the progress being made on the Savannah Irish Neighborhoods Project, an initiative developing a VR experience and walking tour exploring the 19th-century Irish immigrant experience and their integration with Savannah’s diverse communities. A meeting with Van R. Johnson, II, SPHR, SHRM-CP, IPMA-CP highlighted Savannah’s growing connection with Limerick, following his recent trip to Ireland for the signing of the Limerick-Savannah Friendship Agreement, which aims to foster cultural and economic collaboration. Minister Calleary attended the Sgt. William Jasper Ceremony, honoring Jasper’s legacy and recognizing veterans, law enforcement, and first responders, a meaningful tribute to shared history and service. The day concluded with a dinner hosted by the Savannah Economic Development Authority, where he engaged with delegations from Wexford and Limerick, further strengthening ties between Ireland and the region.

Day 3 of Minister Dara Calleary visit marked the beginning of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Atlanta! The day started with a Dignitaries Breakfast hosted by my Irish Network Atlanta, which brought together key partners from across the city. After the breakfast, Minister Calleary and Consul General Groome participated in the 141st Atlanta St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the city's oldest running event. It was a true honor to join such a cherished tradition, celebrating the vibrant Irish community in Atlanta. The parade showcased an incredible variety of floats and groups from Georgia and beyond, highlighting the unity and diversity of the region.

Friday was another busy day for Minister Dara Calleary, beginning with a Community Roundtable Breakfast, bringing together key leaders from Atlanta’s Irish community. This discussion provided a valuable opportunity for Minister Calleary to hear directly from representatives of Irish cultural, social, business, and sporting organizations about their experiences, the evolving needs of the community, and the impact of Emigrant Support Programme funding in sustaining and growing their initiatives. Following this Minister Calleary visited the Jimmy Carter Presidential Museum & The Carter Center to learn about President Carter’s global legacy and had the privilege of meeting Jason Carter, who shared insights into his grandfather’s impact and the Carter Center’s ongoing work. A key highlight of the day was the official opening of Enterprise Ireland’s new offices in Atlanta. This expansion reflects the increasing number of Irish companies investing and creating jobs in the region. To mark the occasion, Minister Calleary also sat down with Global Atlanta for an interview, further reinforcing Ireland’s strong and growing economic presence in Georgia. Business and trade remained central to the day's agenda with a meeting with EI client Midland Steel, celebrating an important milestone in its partnership with Nucor Steel, the largest steel producer and recycler in the U.S. Minister Calleary also met with IDA Ireland client The Coca-Cola Company, a company with longstanding ties to Ireland. Coca-Cola has been investing in Ireland for decades, with a significant presence in the country, including manufacturing and R&D operations that contribute to both economies. The day ended with a meeting with Georgia Commissioner Christopher Nunn, discussing shared challenges and opportunities for economic and community collaboration between Georgia and Ireland.
