As part of National Book Month in October, employees from our Calvert Cliffs Clean Energy Center teamed up with The Maryland Book Bank to bring the joy of reading to Patuxent Appeal Elementary School. Constellation donated 2,300 new books to enrich the school’s library and classrooms, and every student took home a free book courtesy of the book bank’s Bookmobile. In the spirit of Halloween, our team dressed up as popular book characters and brought the storybook pages to life!

Constellation is committed to expanding access to family-sustaining jobs for people across the communities we serve. Recently, we awarded a $250,000 grant to HIRE360, a flagship partner of Powering Change, our signature workforce development initiative. The funding supports the nonprofit’s Empowering Futures program, which enrolls people from diverse backgrounds and equips them with skills and training needed to break through into the energy workforce and building trades jobs. Said HIRE360 Partners Executive Director Jay Rowell: “The impact of this program is already being felt across Chicago.”

Take an inside look at Dresden Clean Energy Center where our final scheduled refueling and maintenance outage of 2024 is underway. Here, teams move fuel from the reactor to the cooling pool – a carefully choreographed and significant task that will help prepare the site to reliably power the equivalent of 1.4 million homes through the winter season and beyond. This year, Constellation's 12 refueling outages across the nuclear fleet brought in more than 10,000 additional workers to help complete critical projects just like this.

Our longstanding partnership with Living Classrooms Foundation Crossroads School is truly special. Recently, Constellation volunteers joined Crossroads students at Leakin Park to plant more than 100 trees alongside the Greater Baltimore Wilderness Coalition and build leadership skills on ropes courses with Chesapeake Bay Outward Bound School. Restoring nature and mentoring the next generation – that’s a great day in our book.
