When facing droughts, wildfires, and extreme weather, communities need reliable access to clean drinking water more than ever. At nearly 100 years old, the Upper San Leandro Water Treatment Plant (WTP) is a critical facility that supplies water to communities on the eastern side of San Francisco Bay. The East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) is working to future-proof this WTP through upgrades that include:? ?? Structural improvements to enhance resilience during earthquakes and extreme weather. ?? Solids processing system improvements to increase plant capacity and operational efficiency. ?? Chemical system upgrades to improve treatment reliability and operational safety. ?? A new power building and distribution infrastructure to support long-term reliability. Upgrading a facility of this scale is complex—not just because of the scope of work but because the plant must remain fully operational throughout construction. Our team provides program and construction management services for this project, which includes proactive scheduling, cost control, quality assurance, office engineering, and inspection services for this complex, multi-year initiative. Shout-out to the EBMUD staff and Consor teammates who are delivering a more resilient, efficient WTP that will serve the community for years to come, even when challenges arise. #consorprojects #watertreatment #PMCM #programmanagement #constructionmanagement

CONSOR Engineers recently completed updates to the Underwater Bridge Inspection Reference Manual and the Underwater Bridge Repair, Rehabilitation, and Countermeasures Reference Manual under a project with the Federal Highway Administration. The 2022 National Bridge Inspection Standards mandate the transition from the 1995 Recording and Coding Guide to the Specifications for the National Bridge Inventory (SNBI). With these updates, the manuals that guide our nation’s underwater bridge inspectors are now aligned with the SNBI and incorporate advancements in technology since their initial release #bridgeinspection #underwaterinspection #NBIS #transportation #infrastructure #engineer

Women have long been underrepresented in #construction, but the industry has been evolving—and that’s thanks in large part to professionals like Jennifer Stone who are leading the charge on exciting, complex projects! VP and Tennessee Area Principal at Consor, Jennifer has spent 25 years shaping the state’s #transportation infrastructure, beginning at the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT). She continues to collaborate with TDOT, now on the consultant side, overseeing construction of its largest project to date—the $185M Alcoa Highway expansion. A massive undertaking, this project includes blasting and hauling nearly a million cubic yards of rock and soil, constructing 24 retaining walls, and coordinating with critical stakeholders, including a nearby military research facility and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, home to the region’s only Level 1 Trauma Center. ?? More about this high-impact project, including a recap of construction progress in 2024: https://lnkd.in/gxhiHJ8A Jennifer originally joined the project in July 2023 to support public relations. By March 2024, she stepped into the project manager role, overseeing construction, mentoring two team members, and keeping the project on track. Now, as part of Consor, she continues to support the effort through a task order. This #womeninconstruction week, let’s celebrate the women shaping our industry and building stronger communities. #constructionmanagement #wicweek #wicweek25 #womeninconstructionweek2025

Communication is key—not just with external stakeholders, but also with internal teammates. Safety is always our #1 priority, especially on a high-volume roadway with emergency traffic. Proactive risk management, detailed records, and work zone traffic control make all the difference, and each require clear and consistent communication to be successful"

As Florida’s most populous county, Miami-Dade continues to grow rapidly, straining its transportation infrastructure. The Golden Glades Interchange—a major junction connecting five of Florida’s major roadways, including I-95, the Palmetto Expressway, Florida’s Turnpike, SR 9, and SR 7—is undergoing a $908M transformation. Led by the Florida Department of Transportation, this #MovingFloridaForward project spans more than 10 miles of roadway and ramps to improve connectivity, reduce congestion, and enhance safety and mobility for thousands of commuters daily. Key features: ?? A new flyover ramp that reduces congestion and improves travel time. ?? 32 bridge replacements and reconstructions for enhanced structural integrity. ?? Over 50,000 linear feet of drainage pipe for improved stormwater management. ?? Improved connections to the Golden Glades Multimodal Transportation Facility. ?? Wrong-way vehicle detection systems and 72 monitoring cameras for improved safety. The project team recently installed the first unit of the new flyover ramp, a steel girder bridge spanning SR 826 Eastbound to I-95 Northbound. Achieved through an around-the-clock weekend operation, this milestone reflects the dedication, coordination, and expertise of the entire project team—consultants, contractors, and our #constructioninspection team. #constructionservices #consorprojects

As cities push for cleaner, more efficient energy solutions, the challenge of reducing emissions while keeping infrastructure resilient is top of mind. What if part of the answer was already flowing beneath our streets? In his latest feature for the Central States Water Environment Association Magazine, Peter Mulvaney, Consor’s Director of Utility Management, explores sewer thermal exchange (STX)—a way to harness thermal energy from our wastewater systems for heating and cooling buildings. STX not only lowers carbon footprints and energy costs but also opens new revenue streams for utilities. In his article on page 32, Pete breaks down how communities can turn wastewater into a powerful asset: https://lnkd.in/dmiKbXQJ For more on Consor’s utility management and advisory services, visit our website: https://lnkd.in/gS-awKj3 #sustainability #wastewater #utilitymanagement
