Colleges and universities are making bold moves toward decarbonization, and at the?University of Massachusetts Amherst, that commitment is taking shape through the North Energy Exchange Center (NEEC)—a key piece of the UMass Carbon Zero Project, designed to transition campus energy systems to 100% renewable energy by 2032. The NEEC will integrate a 70-bore geothermal field, currently being installed by Consigli’s self-perform team in partnership with?Rototec, along with a Thermal Energy Storage (TES) Tank, now under construction, that will deliver 2.2 million gallons of chilled water to maximize efficiency and reduce emissions. Skidmore College's new McCaffery-Wagman Tennis & Wellness Center intentionally brings together the college's recreational and fitness areas, along with health and wellness resources, within a single complex. Using an integrative design-build approach, Consigli and CannonDesign worked closely to streamline collaboration and more efficiently deliver a sustainable space that supported Skidmore's holistic vision for enhanced student services on campus. Along the Charles River, a special gantry crane system is helping the Consigli team perform work on the Museum of Science's Blue Wing Expansion, including structural roof demolition for the future Public Science Common. Through its repetitive motion, this innovative solution enhances safety and minimizes disruption for the Museum and its visitors, allowing the adjacent exhibits and spaces to stay open and operational while construction progresses. The Gordon Center for Creative and Performing Arts, Colby College's largest academic project to date, serves as one of the most advanced performing arts facilities in New England, supporting the creativity and talent of both students and the local Waterville arts community. The project brings together Colby's music, cinema studies, theater and dance departments – each with their own complex and unique performance, M/E/P and acoustic needs – into one collaborative space.
