A Conservation Milestone in New Jersey! We’re thrilled to celebrate the delisting of bald eagles and ospreys from New Jersey’s Endangered Species List — a monumental achievement decades in the making! Through a close partnership between Conserve Wildlife Foundation and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, these iconic species have made a remarkable recovery. But the work isn’t over. While their status has changed, our commitment to protecting eagles and ospreys continues. We are remaining vigilant to monitor nests, protect habitats, reduce disturbances, and address ongoing threats like pollution and habitat loss. Thanks to conservation efforts made possible by our dedicated volunteers and supporters, New Jersey now boasts 293 nesting pairs of bald eagles and over 800 osprey nests. These majestic birds are a vital part of our ecosystems and an inspiring symbol of resilience. Let’s keep this progress going. Together, we’ll ensure these raptors thrive for generations to come. The new year may have just begun but we can't wait to share the exciting initiatives Conserve Wildlife Foundation has planned in 2025! Barnegat Light Habitat Restoration Project: We will complete the final segment of this project, adding more suitable nesting habitats to support increased breeding pairs of piping plovers and other beach-nesting birds. New Turtle Projects: We are launching two new projects focused on monitoring spotted turtles to better understand their landscape use for effective habitat restoration, and tracking the growth and survival of tiger salamanders that have been translocated to inland pools to protect them from climate change impacts. High School STEM Curriculum Development: Our new Director of Education is developing curriculum aimed at expanding our Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programming, creating pathways for marginalized youth to pursue careers in these fields. Stay tuned for updates on these and other important projects this year! Want to get involved? Here's how: https://lnkd.in/e6VRAy6T
