Conservation Strategy Fund (CSF) sustains natural ecosystems and human communities through strategies powered by conservation economics. Our trainings, analyses and timely expertise make development smarter, quantify the benefits of nature, and create enduring incentives for conservation. CSF was founded in 1998 and has offices in Indonesia, Bolivia, Brazil, Peru and the United States. Today CSF is the leading organization advancing conservation solutions powered by economics. CSF analysts have proven the value of protected areas, shown how to build infrastructure at lower cost and with less damage, and nurtured local sustainable businesses. Over $20 billion in development investments have been impacted, resulting in improved conservation of over 20 million acres. Our programs have reached over 3,000 professionals in over 650 organizations, based in 90+ countries. Trainings now include custom courses for marine ecosystems, protected areas, and infrastructure, among other themes. Formats are now specially tailored for emerging economists, government officials and conservation leaders, as well as general conservation audiences. All this has helped bring about a sea of change in conservation: wide acceptance of the strategic importance of economics for success. CSF has offices in Indonesia, Bolivia, Brazil, Peru and the United States and additional staff in Colombia and Mexico. Our training faculty includes instructors from Harvard, Duke, University of Brasilia, University of the Andes (Colombia), University of Concepción (Chile), Oregon State University, University of Cape Town and Makerere University (Uganda), among others. Project partners have ranged from local activists and indigenous tribes, to big international NGOs and development banks. CSF is a tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

?? Today is #InternationalDayofForests, and we're celebrating the work of Protected Areas in conserving and restoring the forest ecosystems that humans (and our economies) depend on. ?? ?? Our latest study from #Peru highlights the many ways that National Protected Areas boost the economy. Our economists found that strategic investments in Peru’s Natural Protected Areas could lead to: a 500% ROI for the economy, a 300% increase in tourism, and an additional 157,000 jobs. ?? We're the newest member of Global Ocean Accounts Partnership (GOAP), and we are proud to be a part of GOAP's mission to enable countries and other stakeholders to go Beyond GDP to measure and manage progress toward ocean sustainable development. As Environmental Economists, we have long known that a country's GDP does not necessarily include the economic power of nature. We are always building new strategies to more accurately account for the economic and health benefits that nature provides to individuals, countries and the global climate. True sustainable development is only possible when we include nature's values in our decision-making. ?? ?? Strengthening the Partnership’s global economic expertise - the GOAP Secretariat welcomes Conservation Strategy Fund as the newest GOAP Member! ?? Since 1998 Conservation Strategy Fund (#CSF) has been using economics to benefit people and nature. By applying economic principles to conservation challenges, CSF can support communities to develop outcomes that balance environmental and economic needs. Highlights from their work: ?? CSF country teams in Bolivia, Brazil, Indonesia, and the United States have influenced > $21 billion in development investments, resulting in conservation of > 50 million acres worldwide. ?? CSF's training programs have reached > 5,000 people from 131 countries ??Their program includes 75 fellows across Latin America, Indonesia, and the Pacific, building a global network of change-makers advancing solutions for people and nature. ?? The GOAP Secretariat looks forward to supporting CSF’s work in providing strategic insights, information and tools to fuel sustainable ocean development.
