  • National Public Lands Day (Sept. 28) is a day to give back to the public lands we cherish. Celebrate the day by volunteering in your national park! Join us for an invasive plant removal drop-in on Saturday, Sept. 28 (1:00-3:30pm), to improve habitat for native plants and wildlife! ?? Invasive species overcrowd native species, making it difficult for them to thrive, which in turn affects the wildlife in the ecosystem. Your efforts will help improve soil quality, restore native plants, and create better habitat for native wildlife. Drop-ins are a great opportunity for both first-time volunteers and veteran volunteers to get involved in their national park! ?? Register to volunteer here: https://ow.ly/289h50TvkVv

  • We're excited to announce the selection of artist Arlin Graff to create a vibrant public art mural on the Boston Mills Road Bridge abutment. The mural project was developed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Cuyahoga Valley National Park and look ahead to the next 50 years through artistic expression. During the next few weeks, visitors may observe progress on the mural from the May Barn that overlooks the Cuyahoga River, from inside the Boston Mill Visitor Center on 6947 Riverview Road, Peninsula, Ohio 44264, or when kayaking through the area on the Cuyahoga River Water Trail. Read the press release at https://lnkd.in/evDCC2eB.

  • ??Fall programming, which includes day and overnight programs as well as Every Kid Outdoors (EKO) programs, has begun at the Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center (CVEEC)! Last week, students from Old Trail School visited the park, starting their day at Lock 29, where they used chemical metrics such as dissolved oxygen and pH to test the health of the Cuyahoga River. Later, the students explored the Furnace Run area (pictured) to assess the health of the stream by collecting and identifying macroinvertebrates! Are you an educator who'd love to give students the experience of exploring CVNP? Check out the CVEEC's current programs open for registration here: https://lnkd.in/guAdZ9_T #CVNP #EnvironmentalEducation
