I would like to recommend this to all leaders who are worried about DEI disappearing from our business vocabulary. I would also like to recommend this podcast to everyone who is cheering on Zuckerberg's new rallying cry of "bringing back masculine energy". It triggered a few thoughts for me: #1: Balancing out feminine and masculine energy is good for business. There is something incredibly intuitive about this. You can't be just tough all the time, nor can you be just caring all the time, we all need both in life and in business. #2: It starts with your personal leadership skills and then trickles down to create a culture where this tension is productive. #3: We may not need 3-letter monikers to balance out feminine and masculine energy in organisations, as long as this balance is lived throughout the organization. #4 : There needs to be recognition throughout the organization that both types of energy are required for leadership advancement. In fact, we may need leadership development programs that teach the business benefits of such an approach. #5: Organisations should have an active dialogue now about what that specifically means for them. How can your particular culture benefit from integrating male & female energy in leadership and daily decisions? The key to healing on a corporate and societal level will require us to leave behind all accusatory clichés like "it's all the fault of old, white, straight man" and "DEI has prevented us from hiring the best people", both of which I have heard too many times. These are the type of conversations that make the Conscious Capitalism, Inc. movement what it is. It's non-partisan and proudly pro-capitalism, but also deeply caring about people and planet.
