At this event, airport authorities and operators, regulatory agencies, and technology and utilities providers from across the U.S. came together to explore ideas for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the innovative ways these challenges are being met. Airports of all sizes face increasing energy demands that will require a balance of resiliency and affordability as airport energy master plans commence. Key discussions included the future of electric airline Ground Support Equipment (GSE), alternative funding sources, and innovation being key to a more sustainable future for the aviation industry. The Reno-Tahoe International Airport’s Ground Transportation Center and Consolidated Rental Car Facility has been selected as the North American Aviation Deal of the Year?by Proximo Infra, providers of market intelligence in the finance, infrastructure and energy industries. In partnership with the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority and the rental car industry, the deal was led by Conrac Solutions (a company owned by Meridiam) and Meridiam, the entity which provided the project’s full equity investment. The $299 million privately financed project is part of the Reno-Tahoe International Airport’s?MoreRNO?multi-year infrastructure program. Conrac Solutions Operators recently marked the first operational anniversary at two rental car facilities: Newark Liberty International Airport Consolidated Rental Car (ConRAC) facility, and Eugene Airport’s Quick Turn-Around (QTA) facility. During its first year of operations, the Newark Liberty International Airport ConRAC site team has prioritized efficient operations, working closely with CS Project Delivery to fine-tune and test systems to enhance building performance. The team promptly addressed warranty-related repairs and escalator outages, and completed several projects, including installing an additional security gate, upgrading PVC plumbing to steel, implementing a variable frequency drive to control the car wash pumps and prevent plumbing damage, as well as adding mufflers to the vacuum systems throughout the facility. The team at Eugene Airport (EUG) Quick Turn-Around (QTA) facility oversaw key improvements over its first year of operations, including the installation of EV chargers and repairs to the fuel system and car wash. Six extended fuel hoses were added to the fueling station for ease of access and convenience and three new fuel dispensers were installed. Portland International Airport (PDX) is making strides in sustainability with the installation of a DC fast charger system for rental car partners. Conrac Solutions is proud to have been involved in the program needs assessment, design, and installation. Located in the Airport's rental car?Quick Turn-Around Facility (QTA), the new EV charging system can charge multiple vehicles simultaneously. PDX's investment in this infrastructure supports rental car companies transitioning to electric fleets and aligns with the Airport's broader goal of reducing vehicle emissions. Senior Investment Director, Meridiam, Nick Phillips recently presented at the AAAE CIP Planning & Finance Workshop in Jacksonville, FL, a gathering of airport industry professionals dedicated to exploring the latest developments in capital improvement planning and financing. During the Innovative Special Facility Financing session, Nick discussed private financing solutions for consolidated rent-a-car (ConRAC) facilities. He highlighted the Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) Ground Transportation Center and ConRAC facility as a successful example of the Tenant Development Approach’s flexibility and using a P3 approach to finance delivery of complex infrastructure projects. Nick was joined at the conference by Conrac Solutions’ Chief Financial Officer, James Gill, AAE, IAP, CPA, and CS Project Delivery, President, Chris Teich. Conrac Solutions Operators recently marked three important rental car facility operational anniversaries: Nine years at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Consolidated Rental Car (ConRAC) facility, one year at Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport’s Quick Turn-Around (QTA) facility and six years at the Chicago O’Hare International Airport ConRAC facility. Over the past year at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, the team maintained safe facility functionality despite unprecedented freezing weather events and record-setting capacity due to the solar eclipse and growing airport enplanements. The team also led several initiatives including expansion joint replacement, escalator handrail upgrades and concrete repairs, as well as bolstering safety measures through the addition of security guards and anti-theft cables. At Chicago O’Hare International Airport, the team led several key facility upgrades, including collaborating with the Chicago Department of Aviation to repair and replace waterproof membrane coatings on the floorplates of levels 1-3 in the QTA to protect the concrete structure. They also implemented repairs and enhancements to address extreme cold weather impacts, and secured preliminary approval for gate installation at the QTA service yard to enhance safety and traffic flow. At Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport, a new camera system was installed to improve overall safety. Our team is committed to delivering exceptional service and continuously improving.
