The first round was full of upsets, including No. 15 Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) shocking No. 2 Michigan State University, only the 8th time in history a 15-seed toppled a 2-seed! Plus, for just the third time ever, at least one team seeded #9 through #15 advanced past the first round. The Final Four brought the heat with: Villanova University - first Final Four since 2009 University of Oklahoma - first Final Four since 2002 University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - back after their 2009 national championship Syracuse University - the Cinderella 10-seed making history! The 2007 NCAA Men's Tournament in Atlanta, GA showcased the University of Florida defending their title, defeating The Ohio State University to become the first back-to-back champions since Duke University in 1992. This also marked the second time that year University of Florida beat The Ohio State University for a national championship, following their BCS football title win in January. The tournament saw fewer upsets than usual, with only 12 lower-seeded teams winning. No team seeded 12 or lower advanced past the first round, and No. 7-seed University of Nevada-Las Vegas was the lowest seed to reach the Sweet Sixteen.
