CONNECTS-UK welcome The Austro-UK Science Alliance (AUKSA) as a new EU scientific diaspora association in the UK scenario. As a network of networks we are here to work together for a stronger and effective EU-UK collaboration in science, research and innovation
Managing Partner at FuzeQube Group | Driving Innovation Ecosystems and Tech Transfer | Responsible Venture Building
The most groundbreaking discoveries - those that push the frontiers of knowledge, fuel innovation, and create real-world impact - rarely happen in isolation. They emerge at the intersection of disciplines, institutions, and countries, where diverse minds come together to solve complex challenges. This is why international research collaboration isn’t just valuable - it’s essential. And it’s why the launch of The Austro-UK Science Alliance (AUKSA) last week at the Austrian Embassy London was an important step in fostering stronger ties between Austria and the UK. I had the pleasure of moderating a panel discussion on how we can strengthen research ties between Austria and the UK - diving into: - The opportunities and barriers shaping collaboration today - What re-association with Horizon Europe means for Austrian-UK research partnerships - How leading institutions like Imperial, UCL, and the University of Vienna foster cross-border collaboration - The future of Austria-UK research ties - what steps we must take today to ensure a thriving research ecosystem by 2030 A huge thank you to our brilliant panelists: ?? Franziska Enichlmayr (Universities UK International) for sharing a policy perspective on research collaboration in Europe ?? Prof. Peter Lindstedt (Imperial College London) for insights on institutional best practices and post-Brexit shifts ?? Prof. Tom Higham (Universit?t Wien) for bridging perspectives from both Austria and the UK And a special thanks to Prof. Christoph Salzmann (UCL) and Prof. Grundling Angelika (Imperial College London) for showcasing some of the cutting-edge research Austrian academics are leading in the UK. Scientific progress is not just about knowledge creation - it’s about knowledge application, and their work is a testament to that. Collaboration is at the heart of innovation Whether in academia, industry, or start-ups, ecosystems thrive when we bridge disciplines, industries, and borders. That’s why I’m honoured to be joining the board of The Austro-UK Science Alliance (AUKSA), helping drive this initiative forward and shaping the future of Austrian-UK research collaboration. A big thank you to Christian Partik (UCL), the Austrian Embassy London (Ambassador Bernhard Wrabetz & Anna Pernegger), ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA UK (Michael Mueller & Peter Pesl), the Austrian Cultural Forum London (Waltraud Dennhardt-Herzog & Hannah Kaip), ASCINA - Austrian Scientists & Scholars in North America (Michael F.), the ABA - INVEST in AUSTRIA (Katja Otter), and Alumni University of Vienna (Daniela Gandorfer & Georg Berghold) for making this event possible. Looking forward to seeing the impact of this alliance in the years to come! #ResearchCollaboration #Innovation #ScientificDiscovery #KnowledgeTransfer #AustroUKScienceAlliance #ScienceDiplomacy #FuzeQube
