This past Saturday we hosted another successful Winter Warmth event! This year we distributed free cold weather gear to 538 individuals, including 209 households. Winter Warmth is always a huge undertaking, and we deeply appreciate our wonderful volunteers, staff, and community partners who all pitch in to help collect clothing, set up, and keep the event running smoothly day of. What does zoning have to do with the high cost of housing or people experiencing homelessness? Plenty, actually, but it’s complicated. To help explain the impact, why faith communities should care, and what the City of Evanston is considering doing about it, Interfaith Action of Evanston is hosting a Gathering on Tuesday, November 19 at 7pm at Cunningham Hall at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, corner of Ridge Ave. and Grove St. Speakers include Mayor Daniel Biss, Pastor Luke Harris-Ferree of Grace Lutheran Church, and Sue Loellbach, Director of Advocacy, Connections for the Homeless.
