Connecticut Water Environment Association (CTWEA) 2nd summer baseball outing was a lot of fun. It was full house with industry individuals and their families. Hartford Yard Goats Baseball team won the game 6 to 1 which made it more fun to be there. Weather was perfect, food was better! Thank you for all the participants and looking forward to seeing more of you next year!

CTWEA membership is composed of engineers, operators and designers; scientists; educators; members and regulators of local, state and federal governments; environmentalists; manufactures and representative of wastewater treatment equipment; and professionals who operate and maintain wastewater treatment facilities and collection systems. CTWEA is a Member Association of the international Water Environment Federation (WEF).

For the second year in a row, a New England student has won the national Stockholm Junior Water Prize! Congratulations to Justin Bernstein of Connecticut on being honored for his outstanding project, "Genetic Engineering of Cryobacterium to Increase Silica Content and Enhance the Glacial Albedo of Black Arctic Oceans". We wish him the best of luck with the international competition in August.

We are very excited that the Connecticut/Rhode Island team placed 2nd overall in the Operations Challenge competition at the New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA) Spring Meeting in beautiful Newport, RI this week. This gives them the opportunity to compete on the national stage at WEFTEC in New Orleans! So proud of RICONN and their hard work. Can’t wait to keep cheering them on.
