关于我们
The American Water Works Association (AWWA) is an international nonprofit scientific and educational society dedicated to the improvement of drinking water quality and supply. Founded in 1881, AWWA is the largest and oldest organization of water supply professionals in the world. Its more than 50,000 individual members represent the full spectrum of the drinking water community: treatment plant operators and managers, scientists, environmentalists, manufacturers, academicians, regulators and others who hold a genuine interest in water supply and public health. Membership includes more than 4,000 utilities that supply water to roughly 180 million people in North America. The Connecticut Section – AWWA is comprised of those members who live and/or do business within the state of Connecticut. The CT Section membership is about 600 strong and represents more than 60 utilities that supply water to approximately 2.5 million Connecticut residents. The Connecticut Section is dedicated to the promotion of Public Health and Welfare by assuring drinking water of unquestionable quality and sufficient quantity. We will become an effective instrument of change by advancing the technology, science and governmental policies relative to the public drinking water profession's role in the stewardship of water resources.

Thank you to the Metropolitan District Commission for hosting the CTAWWA YP Committee’s latest Tour & Pour of the West Hartford Water Treatment Plant. The treatment plant began its operation more than 100 years ago! The plant uses 22 slow sand filter beds: sixteen ? acre filter beds and six ? acre filter beds. CTAWWA was lucky enough to tour one of the beds where the MDC had just finished remediating the sand! After the tour we met at New Park Brewing for some informal networking and discussions. This video is fun, but living without reliable access to clean water isn't. On National #ImagineADayWithoutWater, we thank the 240+ local Connecticut Water employees who work hard to make sure the only day you have without water is the one you imagine.
