Building a Healthier Connecticut
关于我们
Founded in 1919, the Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA) represents hospitals and health-related organizations. With more than 140 members, CHA is one of the most respected hospital associations in the nation. CHA’s mission is to advance the health of individuals and communities by leading, representing, and serving hospitals and their related healthcare organizations that are accountable to the community and committed to health improvement. CHA ACHIEVES THIS MISSION THROUGH: - Public policy and advocacy on behalf of the interests of hospitals and their related healthcare organizations. - Leadership and innovative services to further community-based healthcare delivery. - Strengthening ties and collaborative efforts with other organizations that have common values and aims. - Innovative research and education in the delivery and financing of healthcare services. - Leadership in fostering an environment within which integrated delivery systems can be created and thrive. - Assistance to the membership in ensuring quality, increasing efficiency and effectiveness, containing costs, and enhancing revenue. A Board of Trustees – composed primarily of acute care hospital CEOs as well as hospital trustees, clinicians, and other healthcare executives – governs CHA, determining policy and direction for the Association. CHA members play an active role in the organization, serving on standing and special committees and subcommittees to offer input on critical policy considerations and decisions on CHA activities and focus.

Today, the nation celebrates #RuralHealthDay to shine a light on how rural hospitals and health systems work tirelessly to guarantee all patients in every community have equitable access to timely, high-quality, affordable care. From sparse transportation infrastructure, to workforce shortages, to insufficient Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement rates — hospitals and care providers serving rural areas face significant challenges and are constantly developing innovative solutions to overcome those obstacles. Learn how Connecticut is tackling these issues and identifying tools to combat disparities through Connecticut Office of the State Comptroller Sean Scanlon’s Healthcare Cabinet ????

There is a #behavioralhealth crisis in Connecticut and action is needed to improve access. The Connecticut Office of Health Strategy (OHS) study on Behavioral Health Insurance Coverage and Payment Parity shows that low Medicaid rates and a lack of parity are limiting access to care. There are important steps we can take to continue to improve access, starting with sufficient Medicaid reimbursement rates for these services to ensure everyone can get the right care in the right setting. Read CHA’s full statement on the new report. ???? #behavioralhealthparity #mentalhealthparity #healthcareaccess

During #HomeHealthWeek, CHA recognizes and celebrates Connecticut’s valuable care-at-home community, which helps ensure patients receive the right care, at the right time, in the right place. Utilizing at-home care when medically appropriate has a ripple effect on the entire healthcare system, including by enhancing access to acute and post-acute services for those who need them most. We also stand united in making sure all healthcare workers feel safe and protected, no matter where they provide care – from the hospital to the home. Thank you to home healthcare workers for your unwavering dedication and indispensable contributions! #CaringforCT #CareAtHome

Medicaid reform is a key priority and will be a major focus of the upcoming legislative session. CHA last week joined stakeholders, providers, and healthcare advocates in sharing with state officials what is working well under the HUSKY Health program and what can be improved. Their voices were heard loud and clear: An innovative reform strategy is needed now. CHA has developed a proactive #Medicaid reform strategy that focuses on upstream, root-cause drivers of health and prioritizes preventive, community-based interventions. The proposed plan aims to: 1?? Address Medicaid hospital underpayment 2?? Engage multi-sector health partnerships 3?? Establish a regional investment and accountability financing model that returns 100% of the savings generated by cross-sector collaboratives and care delivery improvements back to hospitals, community partners, and primary care providers Visit CHA’s website to learn more about CHA’s recommended Medicaid redesign approach: https://lnkd.in/encWkyDW

Earlier this month, Hartford HealthCare held its biggest community health event of the year, deploying thousands of volunteers at seven locations across the state to provide essential services and resources to those who need them most. Starting as an initiative by St. Vincent’s Medical Center in 2015, Medical Mission Day has grown into a system-wide effort. “And the great thing is it doesn’t end today. This is starting here for some, but it’s going to continue. We are actually connecting them to care,” said Daileann Hemmings, program director of maternal health equity. Take a look at this year’s event on WTNH-TV! https://lnkd.in/evYbG35b

Community care teams from across Connecticut convened at CHA yesterday to network with key stakeholders, celebrate the successes of the CCT model, explore strategies for sustainable funding, and discuss how to optimize the benefits of CCTs for the people they serve. These forums afford CCT workers the opportunity to initiate fruitful conversations about their unique experiences and brainstorm ideas for collective improvement. Thank you to Carelon Behavioral Health and the Connecticut Behavioral Health Partnership (CTBHP) — including the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Connecticut State Department of Children & Families, and Connecticut Department of Social Services — for your continued collaboration to host these important meetings! A powerful, inspiring message from a Connecticut navy veteran hoping to motivate more individuals to become registered organ and tissue donors. Chas MacKenzie of New England Donor Services details the ongoing demand for these lifesaving gifts and describes how donations have supported thousands of patients, many military members. “A huge, huge number of our recipients are in the armed forces needing skin for burns and bones for reconstructive injuries. It’s fair to say our armed service members are in high need of these precious gifts of tissues,” said MacKenzie, noting that nerve grafts are also enabling many veterans to regain control of their limbs — a testament to major progress in transplantation technology. Read in The Hartford Courant how to help the more than 1,000 individuals awaiting a transplant at the state’s two centers — Yale New Haven Hospital and Hartford Hospital.
