I was thrilled to accept the Embassy of Romania’s ???? invitation to attend the 3rd Annual Meeting of the Romanian Consular Corps and present on the current U.S. immigration legal landscape, especially in light of Romania’s upcoming accession to the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) in 2025. This is a significant step for Romanian nationals and I highlighted the legal requirements of the VWP after 2025 - such as the 90-day limit on travel, refraining from employment on U.S. soil, inability to change or adjust status on U.S. soil, etc. - and the importance of strict compliance. I also discussed paths to U.S. citizenship for Romanian nationals and how upcoming changes in immigration policies might impact the Romanian community in the U.S. It was wonderful to connect with my diplomatic colleagues and engage in meaningful discussions about projects that are vital to the Romanian-American community, including business, cultural, and diplomatic initiatives aimed at strengthening the U.S.-Romania strategic partnership. Maryland Correctional Institute for Women has partnered with non-profit Vehicles For Change VR to bring a state-of-the-art virtual training and apprenticeship program to the women in their facility.
