Pets are family, and taking care of them means taking care of the whole family. Connected Communities and WinnCompanies recently partnered with Second Chance Animal Services, Inc. to bring free veterinary care to residents of our North Shore communities in Massachusetts. This two-day event supported our families by ensuring 61 cats and dogs received the essential care they need- spay and neuter surgeries, vaccinations, microchipping, flea and tick treatments, and other essential vaccinations. A heartfelt thank you to Second Chance Animal Services for making this event possible and caring for our pets at Bowdoin Apartments in Malden, Pequot Highlands in Salem, Preserve North Residences in Peabody, and Cobbet Hill in Lynn. Our 2024 Connected Communities conference was held last week in Boston, bringing together team members nationwide to focus on our core values of People, Place and Partnership. We built connections with each other through storytelling, deepened our knowledge of community partnerships and affordable housing needs and celebrated our incredible team members who make this all possible. Today, the Connected Communities Foundation (CCF), a non-profit dedicated to advancing community-based programs for affordable housing residents, announced a series of leadership appointments. With over 25 years of experience, Paula Popeo is CCF’s first executive-level hire and will lead the Foundation’s fundraising and philanthropic efforts. Alongside Popeo, CCF also announced the promotion of Sarah Perks to Head of Operations Support and Toviyah Williams to Impact Analytics Manager. Additionally, CCF has appointed Mahesh Murthy as of Head of Impact Analytics, Ivy Chandler as Team Lead in the Midwest region, and Aaron Walker as Team Lead in California and Colorado. Connected Communities President, Mai Dang, and Director of Economic Mobility, Edward Chien, joined leadership from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Compass Working Capital last week at the FSS Impact & Innovation Forum at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities in Washington, D.C. Convened by Compass Working Capital, the forum focused on the challenges and policy solutions needed to scale and improve this powerful federal asset building program for more Americans. The conversation was also an incredible opportunity to celebrate the work of Senators Jack Reed (RI) and Katie Britt (AL) introducing Senate Bill S.3904 to establish a nationwide opt-out pilot for this catalytic program.
