Our vision for Mablethorpe and Skegness is that they will make their distinctive contributions to a Connected Coast, renewed and refreshed as settlements through a programme which: diversifies their economies, builds their skills base and establishes them as national test beds for future living and natural resource management. They will become places where positive ageing, a cutting edge approach to tourism and innovation around energy and water management turn current weaknesses into nationally significant strengths.

What’s happening in Mablethorpe? ?? There’s lots to see on Mablethorpe High Street as the Connected Coast Town Centre Transformation projects move along. Traditional shopfronts have been installed, foundations laid and, last week, the steels were installed for the frame of the new balconies! In the meantime, The Coffee Lounge, Empire Amusements and Cheeky Monkeys Arcade are open for business, with outdoor seating and temporary ramps to the new timber shopfronts. And soon, number 66 will be given new life as the gift shop of Mablethorpe Ice Cream Company. There’s lots of work still to do, including decking the balconies, painting the steels and providing access from the first floor. Why not pop down for a drink and see the transformation ? More progress has been made at National Trust Sandilands over recent weeks – and the wildlife is already beginning to enjoy it! This week marks the end of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund’s involvement with the project as the current phase of the funding closes. However, much more progress is to come over the next few weeks, with the upcoming installation of play equipment and elements such as open water, islands, walkways and boardwalks already taking shape. Work on Cultural Skegness, an East Lindsey District Council led project for the transformation of the historic Embassy Theatre in Skegness began in September 2024. The redesign is based on the Scandinavian culture house model becoming an open space where people can do many different things and be inspired by different ideas, all year round.
