Connect-123 was founded in 2006 with a simple mission: to link international organizations with students looking to gain career-related, global experience. Since then, we’ve grown to five continents, partnered with hundreds of organizations, and created valuable internship experiences for thousands of students and recent graduates around the world. Through it all, we’re still guided by that same principle of providing quality hands-on, experiential learning opportunities for students while benefiting NGOs, schools, hospitals, local businesses, and communities in our six destination cities of Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Barcelona, Dublin, Sydney, and Tokyo. As a leading international internship program provider, we not only work with our participants to create customized programs in areas as diverse as human rights, health care, business, sustainability, and more, but are continuing to develop and foster our partnerships with universities around the world. For almost two decades, we’ve watched as students, recent grads and even experienced professionals have capitalized on the many opportunities for growth and development that meaningful international travel provides to truly become global citizens.     **Reflections on the International Internship Conference 2024" at UCD** - Event Overview: Last week, University College Dublin proudly hosted the International Internship Conference 2024, an event that showcased the best of international education. - Network and Collaboration: It was a privilege to connect with many esteemed colleagues and friends from the #InternationalEducation sector, and best of all celebrating this gathering on home soil in #Dublin. - Acknowledgements: ?- Matt Byrnes, from the IIC, for his pivotal trust and his belief in Enda Carroll and me when we suggested hosting the conference at UCD. ?- Key Sponsors: Education in Ireland and Enterprise Ireland especially Lucia Reynolds, Sara Dart and Leo Clancy for their incredible support. Without it, hosting the conference in Ireland might not have been feasible. - UCD’s Standout Presence: ?- The "Summer At UCD" exhibition stand emerged as a hub of vibrant activity, highlighted by Matt as one of the most frequented spots. ?- UCD Conference and Events team and especially Fiona Rodgers, received extensive acclaim for their exceptional organisation. - Campus Experience: Delegates stayed at the UCD Student Residences, expressing high satisfaction with the facilities and hospitality. - Media Coverage was of course led by the rockstar Dr. Maureen Manning of the Pie News, who provided timely updates through a robust social media presence. - Special Note: Looking forward to welcoming Tommy Manning back next summer for the UCD High School Program!! - Event Highlights: ?- The conference opened with a memorable address by UCD Registrar Colin Scott and an engaging plenary session led by UCD Vice President for Strategy & External Engagement Triona McCormack ?- Fortuitously, the weather was sunny, adding to the conference’s congenial atmosphere. Today, I had the pleasure of engaging in a video chat with the fabulous Lea Levy of "Connect 1-2-3" , a pioneering leader in the field of academic internships here in Dublin. For over a decade, Lea and her team have collaborated with us at University College Dublin enriching our community with vibrant, talented students from across the globe. For any of my peers involved in study abroad programmes, I cannot recommend Connect 1-2-3 highly enough. If you're considering Dublin as a potential destination for your students' internships, Lea’s programme is exemplary. It’s been a pleasure to witness the professional growth and development of the students we've welcomed together over these 13 years.
