Another big step in the #DexcomStadium redevelopment this week, with the indoor training pitch at the High Performance Centre almost ready for action! When complete it will be one of the largest indoor spaces of its kind in the West of Ireland, and can cater for any type of event for up to 3500 people. It also gives present and future Connacht players the perfect space to hone their skills in a consistent environment, away from the unpredictable weather! Connacht Rugby are delighted to announce the appointment of Sinéad Cassidy to the new role of Dexcom Stadium General Manager. Sinéad was a key member of the leadership team at the Galway Races, where she spent the past eight years, initially as Sales & Marketing Manager and later as Director of Marketing and Communications. During her time in Ballybrit, she played a pivotal role in driving fan engagement and the continued commercial growth of the annual Galway Races Festival – the largest horse racing festival in Ireland which attracts over 140,000 visitors to the province each year. Sinéad is a graduate of Atlantic Technological University and the University of Galway, and has completed the prestigious Harvard Business School Executive Programme, The Business of Entertainment, Media and Sport. She was also recently named among the Top 50 Women of Influence in Irish Sport by Sport for Business in 2024 and has received multiple awards for marketing excellence and transformative leadership. Sinéad also serves as a Director of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute and McNulty Performance. As General Manager of the stadium, she will be responsible for the operational management of Dexcom Stadium and the soon-to-be completed High Performance Centre, as well as the delivery of all match day and non-match day event experiences on the stadium site. Sinéad Cassidy says: “As someone from this part of the world, I couldn’t be more proud and excited to join the team at Connacht Rugby during such a transformative time for the club. This is a monumental development, not just for Galway City but also the wider region, and it’s?an incredible privilege to be part of it. With the stadium redevelopment well underway, Connacht Rugby are creating a facility unlike anything else in the region.
