#BTS!! One of my favorite parts of this journey is getting to bring ideas to life—and designing the packaging for Confusion Snacks' new dry-roasted peanuts has been exactly that. It’s a mix of art and science, balancing the fun, creative, and nostalgic side (have you found the Easter egg at the bottom of the bag? ??) with the functional side—making sure it quickly and clearly communicates key attributes while telling the story of our Indian roots and bold flavors. This whole process takes me back to being a kid, just messing around with creative projects—except now, it’s for something real, something I can’t wait for you all to try! I'm thrilled to announce that Confusion Snacks' Black Truffle Masala Popcorn is now available on Hungryroot! This partnership is particularly special because it didn't start with a yes. Hungryroot has always been a dream account for us. Their mission to personalize grocery shopping and offer innovative, better-for-you products to curious and conscious snackers who live in "natural-deserts" (regions with limited natural grocery options) made them a perfect fit. We first connected with the Hungryroot team in January. They loved our unique flavors and clean ingredients but didn't see an immediate need for our snacks. Typically, that would be the end of the conversation, but Hungryroot was refreshingly different. 1. Genuine Relationships: My first call with Hungryroot Jacob focused on understanding each other, no money talk. I shared the origins of Confusion Snacks and our unique South Asian-American flavors. He explained the Hungryroot customer persona and their AI-driven personalization. Jacob's genuine interest in our brand showed he was truly seeking brands to champion. 2. Clear Next Steps: Although the team enjoyed our snacks, there wasn’t a clear demand for our products among Hungryroot consumers in January. Instead of ending the conversation there, Jacob suggested a plan to stay in touch. He recommended we reconnect in March to review any changes in consumer preferences and explore potential opportunities. There was a genuine interest to keep the conversation going. 3. Data-Driven Decisions: When we reconnected in March, Hungryroot had new data showing their consumers were looking for flavor innovation and multi-serve snack options. This aligned perfectly with our offerings. Jacob shared specific insights about their customers' growing interest in bold and unique flavors and demand for multi-serve packs, confirming a demand for products like our Black Truffle Masala Popcorn. With this data, Jacob advocated for Confusion Snacks within Hungryroot, championing how our product could fill this emerging void. Now, six months later, we're launching our Black Truffle Masala Popcorn to all Hungryroot shoppers across the U.S.! I'm so excited to share our South Asian-American fusion flavors and the story behind them with such a great partner. A special thanks to Jacob Parsons and Emily Schildt for making this partnership a reality and reminding us that the "P" in "CPG" stands for People. Back to back to back to back to back!! So excited for Confusion Snacks to be back at Pop Up Grocer for its FIFTH consecutive rotation! I still remember being in the commercial kitchen with my mom and getting a call from Nicole at PUG on March 14, 2023...just 14 days into our first rotation. "We need more popcorn!" I got off the phone and immediately told my mom, "looks like we gotta keep popping!". We learned our snacks were literally "popping" off the shelves and ranking top in our category. We couldn't believe it. I vividly remember that day because it was at a time when Confusion Snacks was still just a kernel of an idea. We loved our snacks and the South Asian-American story behind them, but weren't sure if others would too. Pop Up Grocer allowed for our story and flavors to be discovered, and our early performance showed promise in our passion. It seeded confidence that we were building something meaningful -- that we had the potential to shake up the snacking aisle. Now 1 year and 4 rotations later, we're back at Pop Up Grocer thanks to their incredible team and our amazing community who continue to show love for our South Asian-inspired flavors. Special thanks to Emily, Nicole, Maggie and the entire team at PUG for making this partnership special. It's always a treat visiting y'all in New York. Let's keep poppin'!
