Report of CO Safer Schools Initiative (CSSI) offers actions that can be taken by state and local officials. Informed by the largest state coalition on school safety, topics addressed in report include: * Use of Trauma Informed Practices (TIPs) in school safety incidents and drills; * Importance of TIPs in work of School Resource Officers (SROs); *Advantages of Co-Responder Models for school incidents or disturbances; * Value of school partnerships with their local communities; * Importance of student voice in school safety and other system change discussions. Confluence Policy & Strategy Group is honored to convene CSSI in partnership with PEBC- Public Education & Business Coalition. We are inspired by the generous contribution of time & the thoughtful work of fire officials, local government leaders, utility operators, engineers & other experts on Wildfire Resiliency Code Board (WRCB). The WRCB is developing a new set of statewide code to mitigate wildfire risk. With meetings held across the state to maximize participation & provide the board opportunities to spend time in the state's diverse communities, the WRCB was joined today by representatives of the Colorado State Forest Service to help inform the board's work. In addition to the WRCB itself, the body has subcommittees digging deeply into each aspect of their work including Building Design, Site & Area Design, Implementation & Governance & Wildfire Urban Interface (WUI) Definition.

We are thrilled to be joined by Dr. Katy Anthes at today's CO #SaferSchools Initiative meeting. After leading #K12 education in Colorado as Commissioner through some of the most challenging times, Dr. Anthes has found yet another way to share her talents with students, educators and communities. As Director of Forward at PEBC- Public Education & Business Coalition, she is leading efforts to help move conversations from polarization to progress. Confluence Policy & Strategy Group & PEBC are passionately committed to helping those with different perspectives or experiences learn from one another and find common ground. We could not imagine someone more aligned with that vision than Dr. Anthes! For more about the Safer Schools Initiative, visit https://lnkd.in/gvrug-r3 #edpolicy #commonground

The most successful collaborative decision making processes (CDMPs) we support are those work groups and task forces that make time to learn from experts, those with lived experience & those most affected by the underlying systems. As this subcommittee starts to develop their recommendations, we are grateful for Ms. Elenis' time & the commitment of task force members to develop the most powerful, consensus based recommendations informed by the broadest possible input during the process.
