Our latest Conflict Observatory report is now published: https://lnkd.in/dhetUBUb We investigate the 2022 destruction of the Oskil Dam, a critical regulator of water in the Kharkiv region. We find significant environmental impacts persisting two years after the event, including degraded vegetation health, a marked decrease in soil moisture content, and compromised reservoir levels. Justice for Ukraine must include compensation for and restoration of the environment. #Ukraine #CURIAlab University of Virginia

关于我们
CONFLICT OBSERVATORY was founded in 2022 to document, verify, and report open-source evidence of war crimes in Ukraine. In 2023, our efforts expanded to include the civil war in Sudan. Funded, but not governed by the U.S. Department of State, the Conflict Observatory produced research that contributed to the documentation and prosecution of alleged human rights violations and war crimes in Ukraine and Sudan from 2022-2024. UKRAINE: The Ukraine Conflict Observatory documented and analyzed Russia-perpetrated war crimes and other alleged atrocities in Ukraine. These crimes include the destruction of critical infrastructure, forced deportations, forced passportization, extrajudicial killings, and destruction of cultural heritage sites. SUDAN: The Sudan Conflict Observatory monitored Sudan’s civil war by documenting the destruction of critical infrastructure, disruption to humanitarian aid, and alleged crimes against civilians.
