?? Exciting Day Ahead! ?? We’re thrilled to kick off the first day of the 2024 Canadian Stewardship Conference! ?? Join us for an inspiring keynote, insightful sessions, and fantastic networking opportunities. A special shoutout to our Commemorative Host Sponsor, Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA)! Your support makes this event possible, and we’re grateful for your commitment to innovation and collaboration. EPRA/Recycle My Electronics is a not-for-profit industry-led organization that oversees a government approved safe and secure electronics recycling program throughout Canada. EPRA/Recycle My Electronics only works with recyclers who have been verified under the national Electronics Recycling Standard (ERS), which was designed by the electronics industry to ensure that end-of-life-electronics are managed in a safe and environmentally sound manner. EPRA-approved processors must meet over 150 stringent safety protocols to ensure the safety of their employees and the environment. Additionally, EPRA/Recycle My Electronics recyclers are prohibited from exporting electronics or substances of concern to non-OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) nations. Residents and businesses can drop-off their old, broken or unwanted electronics free of charge for responsible recycling at any of the 3150 EPRA/Recycle My Electronics collection locations throughout the country, including return-to-retail locations and special collection events. When residents and businesses bring their end-of-life electronics to EPRA/Recycle My Electronics drop-off locations they are helping to: ·??????Prevent e-waste from being illegally exported or handled by irresponsible recyclers, decreasing environmental issues for the planet. ·??????Recover and recycle resources that can be put back into the manufacturing supply chain, conserving natural resources. ·??????Ensure the safe and secure destruction of personal data stored on hardware. ·??????Protect health and safety of workers and handlers. ·??????Divert e-waste from Canadian landfills. Accessibility, awareness and an ever-growing collection network all form the strong foundation that EPRA/Recycle My Electronics programs are built on. By safely and securely recycling your end-of-life electronics you can help contribute to a sustainable future for all of us. To learn more, visit recycleMYelectronics.ca and enter your postal code to find the drop-off location nearest you. EPRA is proud to sponsor the Canadian Stewardship Conference as the Commemorative Host. We are excited to announce the Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corporation and the Beverage Container Management Board as our Joint Host Sponsors for the 2024 Canadian Stewardship Conference! Technology, innovation, legislation and environmental impact have defined the beverage container recycling industry's impact over 53 years; none of it would have been possible without collaboration from industry partners. As the industry’s regulatory body delegated by the Ministry of Environment and Protected Areas, Alberta’s Beverage Container Management Board (BCMB) must serve the public interest. They are mandated to regulate Alberta’s beverage container recycling system, ensure that the bottle depots in Alberta's communities are well-regulated and managed, and make it as easy as possible for Albertans to recycle their beverage containers. Additionally, the BCMB is responsible for registering all beverage containers sold or distributed within Alberta. They also set depot operating standards, issue depot permits, ensure that retailers advertise the deposit amounts, and monitor collection system operations for effectiveness and service quality. Appointed by the beverage manufacturers as the industry’s collection system agent, Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corporation (ABCRC) has operated a cost-effective common collection system in Alberta for almost 30 years. But ABCRC’s role goes beyond container stewardship. ABCRC has always worked closely with municipalities, beverage manufacturers, depot operators, communities, industry stakeholders, and strategic partners to champion recycling literacy, drive innovation, and promote circularity and sustainability practices. Ultimately, their goal is to drive Alberta’s economy and move toward a future of becoming Canada’s first zero-waste province. ABCRC’s passion for sustainable eco-systems and environmental impact also extends beyond beverage containers. They proudly partner with other Canadian companies, educational institutions, and non-government organizations (NGOs) that also envision a future with a holistic circular economy for recyclables in Canada. With aligned goals, objectives and desired outcomes, BCMB and ABCRC continue to make Alberta’s deposit return system the most effective and efficient system in Canada and North America. #canadianstewardship #epr #toronto #conference
