???? Big News for #Alamance County! We are connecting the students of Hillcrest Elementary with access to ???? Telehealth right from their school campus through an innovative partnership with ALAMANCE-BURLINGTON SCHOOL SYSTEM. ?? ?? "We are thrilled to introduce this telehealth program at Hillcrest Elementary, marking an important step in expanding access to health care for our students," said Superintendent Aaron Fleming. "Through this partnership with Cone Health and Burlington Pediatrics/ Mebane Pediatrics, we are ensuring that students can receive timely medical attention without leaving school, helping them stay healthy and focused on learning." ?? The #telehealth program will allow students experiencing minor illnesses or health concerns to be evaluated by a medical provider remotely, with the assistance of a school nurse. Parents can participate in virtual visits and, when necessary, prescriptions can be sent directly to a preferred pharmacy. By bringing health care into the school, this program minimizes absenteeism and supports overall student wellness. ?? “My grandmother was a small-town schoolteacher. I understand the importance of being in class,” says Cone Health President and CEO Dr. Mary Jo Cagle. “Missing half days and full days of instruction due to minor illnesses can be a huge obstacle, especially in elementary school. ?? Cone Health President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mary Jo Cagle, has decided to step down from her role due to a serious family health matter. Her last day at Cone Health will be May 31, 2025. “It has been a joy and privilege to lead this system. I’m incredibly proud of all we’ve accomplished to increase access to care, enhance patient safety and care quality,” Cagle said. “The future is bright as Cone Health leverages new approaches, capabilities and data to make proactive wellness care affordable and accessible for all.” Cagle is notably the first woman and the first physician to serve as CEO at Cone Health. She led Cone Health through the COVID-19 pandemic and was a driving force in Cone Health becoming part of Risant Health. Her leadership has been instrumental in prioritizing value-based care and ensuring better health care for all. Just last week, Cagle was named one of Modern Healthcare’s Leading Women of 2025. She was previously named a Grassroots Champion by the American Hospital Association and one of the 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives by #ModernHealthcare. She was also named one of Triad Business Journal’s C-Suite Award winners and Power Players. Under her leadership, Cone Health has also been named by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top hospitals in 2024–2025 as well as a Best Regional Hospital for Equitable Access. Bernie Sherry, who has served as Cone Health’s Interim Chief Operating Officer since December 2024, will serve as Interim Chief Executive Officer beginning June 1, 2025, following Dr. Cagle’s departure. ?? We are excited to announce that J. Michael Kramer, MD, MBA has joined Cone Health's leadership team as Chief Medical Information Officer! ?? In this role, Dr. Kramer will serve as a liaison between the medical staff and information systems team and support the continued advancement of information technology into hospital and ambulatory practice settings to promote the highest possible quality, safety and evidence-based patient care. Kramer is a clinician and executive with more than 20 years of experience in quality and safety, medical informatics, digital health, virtual care and AI. Prior to joining Cone Health, Kramer served as the Vice President and Chief Health Information Officer at Inova Health in Fairfax, Va. He also served as Vice President and Chief Medical Information Officer at OhioHealth in Columbus, Ohio, and Senior Vice President, Chief Quality Officer and Chief Medical Information Officer at Spectrum Health, now CoreWell, in Grand Rapids, Mich. Dr. Kramer received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University of Medicine in Cleveland and earned his MBA with a specialization in healthcare and information technology from the University of Michigan.
