Two years ago, #NurseDisrupted was featured on The Today Show for our early work in homeless shelters during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are proud to have expanded nationwide and to the inpatient setting, but we can never forget where our journey began and who we embarked on it for. We are still live in shelters and community centers nation-wide, closing the gap in health equity one call at a time. A key strength of our model in community care is its user-friendly interface, designed to function seamlessly with low connectivity and accommodate users with limited tech experience. As Bre says in the clip below: We design for the humans. Thank you to Morgan Radford at The Today Show for believing in our mission! Emergency department (ED) boarding poses not only operational challenges but also significant financial burdens on health systems. A recent study from UMass Chan Medical School and UMass Memorial Health highlights the urgency of addressing this issue: 1. Higher Daily Costs: For stroke patients, ED boarding costs averaged $1,856 daily, versus $993 for inpatient care. 2. Impact of Travel Nurses: The cost difference grows with a higher percentage of travel nurses in the ED, driving boarding costs to $2,258 versus $1,095 for inpatient care. 3. ICU Boarding Costs: ICU boarding costs are 5% higher than inpatient care. 4. Quality of Care: Anecdotal evidence suggests that patients in the ICU receive more nursing care compared to those boarding in the ED, raising concerns about equitable care. This study emphasizes the urgent need for health systems to address the ongoing challenges associated with ED boarding, both for financial sustainability and improved patient care. #Healthcare #PatientCare #CostManagement https://lnkd.in/gJ8K8Jjt

Why does Nurse-First Triage matter? It’s the key to both patient safety and satisfaction. When a patient reaches out for clinical advice, they need expert guidance right away. With Nurse-First Triage, clinically trained nurses are the first point of contact, providing immediate, evidence-based care decisions. This model reduces unnecessary ER visits, enhances patient safety, and improves overall satisfaction. A nurse-first triage model connects patients to licensed RNs from the start, ensuring timely and expert care. https://lnkd.in/gVbWnB_E #PatientSafety #NurseFirstTriage
