We were honored to host William Nickas, PE, Editor in Chief at ASPIRE - The Concrete Bridge Magazine – The Concrete Bridge Magazine and Managing Director, Transportation Systems, at Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute,?at our recent Concrete Materials for Bridges Training course. William shared his experience in his editorial of the Winter 2024 edition of ASPIRE- The Concrete Bridge Magazine, stating: "I just returned from a fantastic session of the Concrete Materials for Bridge Training Program. During the course, I scribbled down several key points, but two really struck a chord. First, I was reminded of the importance of staying engaged with suppliers. This is certainly not a new concept, but it is one that we need to dust off and make a greater priority in our industry. Second, the CBEI course drove home the point that we need to remain vigilant about the quality of concrete materials." We're grateful for the opportunity to bring together experts and professionals dedicated to advancing the field of concrete bridge engineering. Meet?Hwa-Ching (Dennis) Wang, a Research Engineer with over a decade of experience in structural engineering. Specializing in accelerated bridge construction and reinforced/prestressed concrete behavior, Dennis manages multiple TxDOT-funded projects and mentors graduate students. Dennis earned his Ph.D. from?Purdue University, focusing on reinforced concrete knee joints. His master's research at?National Taiwan University?explored post-tensioned precast segmental bridge columns in seismic regions, showcasing his versatility in tackling complex structural challenges. Before academia, Dennis worked as an engineer and bridge inspector in Taiwan, leading a bridge health monitoring initiative to enhance safety protocols in the face of natural hazards. Dennis Wang's dedication and expertise make him an invaluable asset to our team.
