For Your Consideration in Best Documentary Short Film Concordia Fellow's Paula Eiselt's short UNDER G-D The reversal of Roe v. Wade represents a triumph for conservative Christians ardently opposed to abortion. But some other faith traditions – Judaism and Islam – don’t see the issue of abortion the same way, and they’re beginning to fight back in the courts for their religious rights. The Sundance short documentary Under G-d explores the movement to protect access to abortion as a matter of religious liberty. The conservative dominated U.S. Supreme Court ostensibly leans in favor of arguments supporting the exercise of religious freedoms over other rights (the justices this term will hear a case about whether some businesses have the right to refuse services to same-sex weddings), so how these new arguments over abortion could sway justices will become a critical question.
