LOOKING IN THE MIRROR ?? ? Wow, being regimented with diet an exercise has really gotten results over the last 5 months ? I've generally identified as strong ?? not "skinny" or muscular...so what's looking back at me is me...but not me ??. ? My goal was to lose 20 pounds, I'm down 40...??...happy I learned skills on how to manage weight and re-evualte my health and priorities, but over the past few weeks, it started to feel out of balance. ? Balance ?? is key ??. I've skipped so my opportunities to hang with friends eat wings ??... ? I'm going to cut myself some slack ?? and eat those wings ?? and have some guac??...in moderation 3?? FIRST TIME IN 5 MONTHS ?? ? Last night was the first time since June that I had a drink during the week ?? while not on vacation ??? ? I'm raging against the machine a bit here, but again, moderation and I needed to let loose after being so regimented ?? 4?? BOOK I'M LISTENING TO: THE BLACK SWAN ?? ? The author, Nassim Nicholas Taleb, is a certified genius ?? ? The concepts are highly advanced ?? and it's been challenging to grasp all of the concepts ? Black Swans ?? are unexpected events, the ones your just don't see coming...examples are 9/11/01 or Lehman Paper suddenly becoming worthless overnight in 2008 ? It's information overload...?? ? So many clients and prospective clients focus on their savings ?? that they get scared to spend ?? ? I've read ?? enough to know that people value experiences ?? over things ??, giving to others ?? and many more acts that provide memories ??? or emotional satisfaction ?? rather than accumulated stuff ??????... ? How you use Money should align with your goals ??, both short and long term ? For about 7 minutes, I would have loved ?? that Rolex, then for the rest of my life, I would have known it is just extra ?? that doesn't give me satisfaction ? Happiness for me is providing for my family ????????, knowing my daughters can go to college ??, maybe having a place for us to go in the summer ?? ? I do recommend his books about irrationality and money as they're great for another to learn ?? about human behavior ? Next up is "Same As Ever" by Morgan Housel ?? 2?? BODY COMP UPDATE ? It's been ?? months and a weeks since I started working with my nutritionist ? Current Weight ??: 194; target is to stay under 200 and increase muscle mass/strength ? Body Fat ??: 18.2%; goal is 16/17% range ?? ? Changes I have made include a 30 minute walk ??per day, one 30 minute ??♂? in Zone ?? per week (blue zone ?? for the Orangetheory Fitness crowd), no more than 5 ??'s per week + following/ logging macros ?? ? Discipline around health & weight management transfers to helping people with their finances ?? = They're both following a plan & changing as needed ?? 3?? NUMBER UNEXPECTED VET VISITS THIS WEEK ?? ? Tuesday - Wound Infection ?? ? Thursday - Accidental OD on doggy painkillers ?? to treat wound ? Friday - Wound looking worse, ?? emergency treatment to get topical ointment ?? and have the infection re-evaluated ? Badger is in the pet insurance bonus round, so I am only paying 10% of total cost for his visits, but I want my best buddy to heal up ???? ? We'll be back on Tuesday for a planned visit, for re-evaulation and hopefully not having to reopen the wound ???? 4?? SPLURGE OF THE WEEK: while on earth? ? I used to be scared ?? to give clients bad ??? ? I would work with anyone that was willing to work with me ?? ? Now, I give thought love ???? because it helps my clients move forward ? ? I'm extremely selective ?? about who I work with & will proactively tell people it is a bad match ??? ? Living, learning and experiences has helped me become a better advisor ?? ? No hate on younger advisors, we need more of them...It's tough for me to think a 25 year old without proper training ?? can give good quality advice, w/o someone more senior watching ??/mentoring ? The range ?? of treatment was $1,200 - $3,000 but they wouldn't know until after the surgery ? It ended up being just over $1,500 with 90% being reimbursed to me through pet insurance ?? ? Pet insurance is controversial as some hate it and other love ?? it ? I would have and could have paid out of pocket, but having the policy takes the emotional burden out of caring for my dude ?? ? In a week of unexpected expenses, I was glad to have the policy pick up most of this bill ?? ? Badger is doing great and I removed his cone ?? ? What's your take on pet insurance? 2?? LANDSCAPING ?????????? ? It started out as five trees for privacy from the new house next door ?? ? This ballooned ?? into 5 trees, 7 shrubs, relocation of many plants, adding stone pathways ?? and changes to irrigation ?? ? My $2,500 project turned to about $10,000 ?? ? A Concierge at a hotel makes my experiences welcoming, takes work out of my hands and wants my stay to be the best it can be ?? let's apply these concepts to Financial Planning ?? Logo: The Boston office is a few blocks away from the Zakim Bridge ??, an iconic landmark in Boston ?? ?? Bridges connect land around over over obstruction, like I want to connect ?? people and help ?? them achieve their dreams ??♂? ?? A concierge unlocks ?? opportunities when you're a guest, and I help guide people to unlock their potential ?? with intentional planning. You will notice that a keyhole and key is subtly in the logo ??? ?? Color Palette ?? - I wish I could say I did some studying here about how colors influence decisions.
