Just attended another fantastic meeting with our RECN group! RECN, a professional group within the Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce, focuses on real estate and construction. It provides a platform for members to support each other in building and managing successful enterprises. We truly enjoy being part of this group. Both Michael Hobbs and Scott Hobbs attended this morning's meeting and commented on how excellent it was. Our guest speaker was Clark Kendall, CFP®, CFA, AEP® of Kendall Capital Management, who shared insights on how his firm helps small business owners with various aspects of investing their hard-earned savings. Thank you to the Maryland Tribune for picking up our story! You never know where inspiration or help to accomplish important things will come from. We had a vehicle that we no longer needed. It was in great shape, with low mileage. Instead of trading it in, we thought about giving it to a family or person in need within our community. However, we were stumped on how to connect with the right family or person. Not long after, Scott, our company's president, attended a meeting with the Gaithersburg Germantown Chamber of Commerce’s Real Estate and Construction Network (RECN), a great group of professionals in construction and commercial real estate. Scott is one of the oddballs since we’re an IT company. At that meeting, Elaine Chang, the Director of the Department of Partnerships at MCPS, was the invited speaker to talk about their Summer Rise program. During her presentation, she shared a story about a wonderful local family she was working with, and it just clicked with us that this could be the family we were looking for. We met with her after the meeting, and we all left that conversation excited to make it happen. Elaine helped us put all the pieces together. She introduced us to Steve Boden with the MCPS Automotive Trades Foundation. Through this program, students learning auto mechanics got to prepare the car. We found a great local family in need. Looking back, it’s heartwarming to see how others helped us fulfill our desire to give back to our community. https://lnkd.in/dWF-XQeA
