Over 150 lives were changed, thanks to the collaboration of Computers 4 People, Dvine KoneKtion, 123 Recycling—and a $10K donation from AT&T to support refurbishments and operations. Here’s how it worked: 123 Recycling donated the devices, Computers 4 People refurbished each one to optimal condition, Dvine KoneKtion identified those most in need of tech access, and on November 2nd, these three organizations came together to distribute the laptops. From college students writing essays on their phones, to single parents juggling work and library schedules for their kids, to seniors finally accessing telehealth—these are just some of the stories we witnessed firsthand. Did you know that November is National Recycling Month? Recycle your tech and help us change a life! Every year, 6.9 million tons of e-waste are generated in the U.S., according to USPIRG Education Fund. Much of this waste still holds the potential to help people, like Jysaiah, a 19-year-old studying business management. Jysaiah is currently pursuing his associate degree and hopes to continue on to his bachelor’s. However, he has faced challenges that have made it difficult for him to complete his schoolwork and seize opportunities. Often on the road or commuting, he has had to rely on his phone or home desktop to do assignments, leaving him without the flexibility he needs to succeed. Thanks to the generous donation and recycling of someone’s unused device, Jysaiah is now one step closer to his goal. We were able to provide him with a refurbished laptop, giving him the freedom to study and complete his homework wherever he is. YOU can help create more stories like Jysaiah’s.
