Since 2011, CompostNow has been leading the way in food waste diversion and soil health restoration. Operating across four metro areas (Asheville, NC; Atlanta, GA; Cincinnati, OH; Raleigh-Durham, NC), they collect 1.5 million pounds of organic waste monthly, turning it into nutrient-rich compost for local farms and gardens. Their commitment extends beyond waste reduction—they’ve built in-house tracking software, provide compost to 110 community gardens, and even offer elevated employee benefits. Now, with new hard-to-recycle add-on services, they’re making it even easier for households to reduce waste. We’re proud to partner with organizations like CompostNow that align with Biobag’s mission of reducing landfill waste and building a more sustainable future. ???? #CommunityHero #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #Composting #Biobag

I love the data that fellow Certified B Corp CompostNow shares each month on my home compost participation. We joined their residential compost program when we moved to the Triangle region of NC in September 2021 and we’ve been able to divert over a ?????? (2,263 lbs) of food scraps since that time. That’s a pretty incredible amount for my small family. We’re sad to have to cancel our service since we’re moving out of town but I wanted to give props to all the great work the CompostNow team is doing here in the Triangle and across the south. Part of the 566 lbs of compost we’ve helped to create has gone into our own home garden and contributed to some incredible plums, blueberries, and tomatoes. Better yet, the compost helped to avoid the release of 235 lbs of methane that would otherwise result from dumping it in the landfill. That amount of compost is enough to offset 6,607 miles driven by a car! I’m looking forward to continuing our home composting game in our next city – they've got composting through the city’s waste management service. Compost at home or work and have some cool metrics to share? I'd love to nerd out about your stats!

Individual contributions matter. For months, I was frustrated by the absence of accessible composting where I live. I looked into starting a neighborhood committee and met with various city leaders, but found I lacked the bandwidth to tackle this on a larger scale — for now. I couldn’t take it anymore and signed our household up for composting with CompostNow . While it’s not the broader solution I want (and am still working toward) it is an immediate solution, and it’s one that thousands of other individuals are making. Those collective efforts are making a big difference. I’d love to connect with anyone making a widespread impact on diverting organic waste from landfills! #foodwaste #organicwaste #waste #compost #wasteservices
