Manna Food Center strives to eliminate hunger through food distribution, education, and advocacy! For over 40 years, Manna has served thousands of people, providing nutritious food to the community. Food that cannot given away is composted with Compost Crew! This week, our Crew volunteered at Manna to sort hundreds of food items that were donated by community members and had a fun while doing so! Volunteers were kind and welcoming to our team as they worked hard sorting and boxing food and other donations. Thank you Manna for your contributions to the community. Compost Crew and other businesses and non-profits, like City Blossoms and Trace--The Zero Waste Store, were invited to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church - Washington, DC Green Fair! We have been collecting compostables and wasted food from this church who believes that we are to be stewards of this planet! Their coffee hour only offers compostable cups and stirrers and even the children easily organized their waste into the correct bins around the room. Each bin with signage guiding guests on what does and does not belong in the bin! Vendors learned from one another, supported each other’s businesses and are looking for ways to collaborate and build a more sustainable community as a united front!
