Although composite repairs have been used for decades on aircraft, marine, and construction and infrastructure applications, use in large offshore vessels has been limited and are often bonded to the steel rather than the composite substrates. Under the?StrengthBond Offshore project, Bureau Veritas | Marine & Offshore worked with a consortium of industry partners with the main objective to qualify bonded composite patch repair, aiming to issue guidelines and pave the way for certification in maritime applications. Belzona?recently highlighted a composite wrap system designed for aqueous environments. The surface-tolerant epoxy resin is called Belzona 1984.
