Last month, we began sharing the NCUA’s top supervisory priorities regarding Credit Union Compliance in 2025, and we want to make sure you’re aware of the last couple of key priorities, as they pertain to areas posing the highest risk to credit union members and the credit union industry. Supervisory Priority #3: Cybersecurity As our industry’s dependence on technology increases, so do the threats of more frequent and complex cyberattacks. It is of utmost importance that credit unions be proactive in preventing any compromise of confidentiality, integrity, or system information. Conduct thorough and continuous due diligence reviews to ensure safety and security! According to the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), “In 2025, examiners will continue to use the information security examination procedures to assess whether your credit union has implemented robust information security programs to safeguard both members and the credit union itself. This doesn’t have to be overwhelming—strong information systems security measures are key to navigating this landscape, and we can help make sure your credit union is prepared.
