Dear privacy folks, during my recovery phase I noodled around the good old Hitchhiker's Guide to Privacy Engineering comic book website and created a new creative privacy challenge this time for myself to complete a mini playbook around what AI governance is and especially help out NGOs and growth stage startups getting additional RAI questionnaires in vendor audits. Therefore I'm really excited to share that now it's available as early access for free at the HGPE website! ps. Also, privacy village activities will linger on for a couple more weeks so don't be shy and join the most creative privacy community in the galaxy now!

?? Happy Data Privacy Day!! ?? I'm tuned into the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario Privacy Day Event, "The Power of PETs: Privacy Enhancing Technologies" and it warmed my #privacypro heart to hear Pamela Snively of TELUS announce that people care about their privacy more than ever now, according to a recent TELUS survey. #PETs can help organizations #innovate with their #data while protecting #privacy and promoting #dataethics. But as Luk Arbuckle emphasized, it's not just about transforming data. It's about the #5Safes SAFE Projects – Appropriate data selection and use SAFE People – People who can be trusted to use the data responsibly SAFE Data – Data that has been transformed to reduce re-identification risk while preserving utility SAFE Settings – An access or sharing model that limits unauthorised or inappropriate data practices and reduces re-identification risk? SAFE Outputs – Outputs that protect against disclosure risk? So while PETs can be powerful, remember the power of PEOPLE in ensuring your data-driven innovations and projects are safe. Teams that are privacy- and #cyber-aware are critical to helping teams and collaborators succeed. I wrote about a growing movement that's using #play and #gamification to raise privacy, cyber and #AI awareness and #upskill teams in my latest piece for Forbes. We choose Privacy Village!

Dear privacy folks, come and listen to another failed story by dear friends at IAPP! ??♂? I am sorry to see still no reply from IAPP, Rich Swietek, or J. Trevor Hughes as they are leading the biggest privacy community yet... (emphasizing on the "yet" bear with me till the end ??) So I decided to spend my birthday noon writing this post and tell you a little story about how Istanbul Bilgi University Privacy Innovation Lab and Compliance Detective's "Disneyland of Privacy" is the next-gen IAPP the global compliance community deserves… 1. Privacy Village is not driven by hubris and capitalism but rather it's the love child of a passion project HGPE and the community we built together from SF to Istanbul to Kenya with the best minds in AI governance and privacy around the GLOBE!? ?? 2. We value the right to?privacy and human autonomy above all, (not sponsorship money to choose advisory board members or speakers based on their follower count or how much they paid to be showcased…) ?? and... 3. A big Thank you note to all the friends of Privacy Village, guardians of our subcommunities like Rebecca Balebako Leyla Keser Berber Michael Novack Dustin Lehr Stanley Harris Kim Wuyts ,Abigail Dubiniecki B.Ed, B.C.L., LL.B, CIPM, CIPP/E, Swati Popuri, and Gorkem Cetin, Ph. Every session on privacy / AI literacy gaming nights, spread privacy challenges, privacy engineering, and AI governance BootCamp or workshop is %100 quality not quantity as unfortunately all of us are accustomed to boring IAPP events and chapter gatherings with closed videos, mics and people just stand there as silhouettes to get some CPE credits or to get a promotion in their jobs rather than being passionate about DPD25! ? It once showed us why the compliance ecosystem needs its "Disneyland of Privacy" rather than boring expensive events where everyone is there only to get their CV ready or because their employers already paid for their advisory board role or speaker lineup...
