For over a decade, the team at SciShow has been bringing the most interesting and curiosity-inspiring science content to your YouTube screen five days a week. Throughout our tenure, we’ve grown a following of over 8 million subscribers tuning in to learn with us. Recently, when reflecting on how far we’ve come and where we’re going, our team came up with an experiment to bring in the next generation of science communicators. The idea was to promote and amplify young hosts who would thrive in front of SciShow’s audience. In return, the SciShow team gets fresh ideas and new perspectives to shape the channel moving forward. For 17 weeks, we worked with an up-and-coming science creator who pitched, wrote, and then hosted ten episodes for our channel under the guidance of our Editorial Director and Producers in a pilot program we’re calling the SciShow Residency.? In our search for the right candidate to launch the residency program, one person really stood out to us. Our first SciShow Resident is finishing up her PhD at MIT and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. She is a co-founder of the Minorities in Shark Sciences nonprofit to help build community and provide funded opportunities for gender minorities of color in shark sciences (https://lnkd.in/eRgHyB8). She is also already building a following by making awesome shark and fish content for the internet, and we have no doubts that her charming talents on-screen will amaze you. So, without further ado, it is our pleasure to announce that our first SciShow Resident is the one-and-only Jaida Elcock. We’ll let her introduce herself here. We’re so excited to show you more of what she can do!

Where do emotions come from? Should we actually use medicine cabinets? And what made that giant hole under Greenland? We answered all these questions (and more) last week! https://lnkd.in/gZZBPrpe
