Dr. Amy Baker Dennis and Leah Graves, RDN, LDN, CEDS-S, FAED delivered an in-depth training session on best practices for managing complex eating disorder presentations, with a special focus on co-occurring eating disorder and trauma and mental health diagnoses as well as treating Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). A huge shoutout to Dr. Agnes Ward and the dedicated MCCMH team for their collaboration and enthusiasm. Working together, we achieved meaningful insights and learning for all involved. With over 30 years of dedicated experience, Leah has made significant contributions to the treatment of eating disorders through both direct client care and her leadership roles in esteemed organizations. Her expertise and compassion have left a lasting impact on the field. As a founding member of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED), Leah has served on the Executive Team and Board of Directors and chaired the North American Teaching Days for the International Conference on Eating Disorders. Her extensive contributions to AED have earned her the distinction of Fellow, and she holds the esteemed title of Certified Eating Disorder Specialist from the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp). Leah's commitment to advocacy extends through her work with the National Eating Disorders Association, where she serves on the Clinical Advisory Council. She also shares her knowledge with the broader community as co-editor of the Eating Disorder Review and as an Advisory Board member for Rock Recovery and the National Center of Excellence for Eating Disorders. Her passion for service is evident in her leadership roles as President and Governance Committee Chair for the Oklahoma Eating Disorders Association. An invited faculty member at prominent conferences, including the International Conference on Eating Disorders, the Renfrew Foundation Conference, the iaedp Symposium, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Food and Nutrition Conference and Exposition (FNCE), Leah is a respected authority in medical nutrition therapy, nutrition counseling, and clinical supervision. She has published widely on these topics, offering valuable insights to support both professionals and individuals affected by eating disorders. Exciting News! Complex Solutions for Eating Disorders, LLC is thrilled to introduce our esteemed partner, Dr. Amy Baker Dennis! With over 45 years of pioneering work in the field of eating disorders, Dr. Dennis has been a trailblazer, shaping and advancing care for countless individuals. We are honored to have her join our team, bringing her unparalleled expertise and passion for helping others. Since 1977, Dr. Dennis has dedicated her life to treating eating disorders. Her journey includes serving as the Executive Director of the National Anorexic Aid Society, where she designed and implemented seven national eating disorder conferences and founded the first outpatient treatment program for individuals with eating disorders in Columbus, Ohio. In 1988, she moved to Detroit and opened her private mental health clinic, Dennis & Moye & Associates, while continuing to educate and mentor through her roles at Wayne State Medical School, the University of South Florida Medical School, and the Hamilton Holt Graduate School at Rollins College. Dr. Dennis is a Founding Fellow of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED), a Founding Member of the Eating Disorder Research Society (EDRS) and the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), and a Certified Cognitive Therapist. Her dedication has been recognized with numerous awards, including the "Outstanding Contributions to the Field of Eating Disorders" by AED and the "Lifetime Achievement Award" by NEDA. A seasoned lecturer and author, Dr. Dennis continues to shape the field with her latest work, Eating Disorders, Addictions, and Substance Use Disorders: Clinical, Research, and Treatment Perspectives. We are excited to have Dr. Dennis bring her incredible expertise, compassion, and innovative spirit to Complex Solutions for Eating Disorders. Dr. Pryor's passion for research has driven her to explore the complex facets of eating disorders, including personality disorders, substance use, multi-impulsive behaviors, and sexual functioning. Her recent work with fMRI studies has provided valuable insights into brain activity in individuals with eating disorders, helping to deepen our understanding of these illnesses. She has shared her knowledge through national and international presentations and co-authored four chapters on the connection between eating disorders and substance abuse. An active member of the Eating Disorder Research Society and a Fellow of the Academy of Eating Disorders, Dr. Pryor has also served on the Board of Directors for the National Eating Disorders Association.
