    Let me tell you a little story ... The image on the left is insurance broker "me" circa May 2014. Amy and I had just moved to Colorado and I was producing in a market where no one knew my name. Worse yet, I had zero clue how to market myself. No brand. No message. No confidence. I just wanted to fit in. Yep, you know the result. Little opportunity and tons of frustration. I'm happy to say it's much different today. The guy on the right is more confident with a better message. And no desire to fit in anymore. Does everybody like it? Hell no. And that's ok, because it works. Moving forward, having a personal brand is a requirement. If you're an insurance producer, you need a brand. If you're an agency owner, please let your producers be brands. "Well, this is just the way we've always done things" doesn't work anymore. Quit hiding. Quit stalling. Step up and stand out.     Question: When was the last time you had coffee with "everybody"? Never, right? Yet that's exactly what we do in our video content. We hit record and suddenly switch from having a conversation to making a presentation. "Hey everybody!" "I hope you're all doing well!" "As many of you may know..."     It might seem subtle, but this mistake is having an impact on how your prospects are digesting your video content. Your viewer is watching your videos alone on their phone or computer - not in a crowd. Speaking directly to ONE person makes them feel like you're having a conversation just with them. You wouldn’t start a coffee meeting by saying "Hey everybody". Of course not. When you’re recording your videos, address that one person as if you were sitting across the table from them. Quick test: Record two versions of your next video - one speaking to "everybody" and one speaking to a single person. Watch them back.
